I had my garage designed so my current boat trailer would just fit (largest the builder would let me go with this house design). I wasn't thinking about future add ons like a bigger motor or bigger jack plate. I put a 12 inch jack plate on and now I have a problem fitting the boat in the garage http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/brickwall.gif

I know some new trailers come with a swingaway hitch for the front 2 feet of trailer, but is this available as an add-on part to other trailers that didn't come with it new? I know I will have to cut the front of my trailer off to make this work and I am willing to try anything, but I was not able to find anything in a google serach for this part. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Herb, I have a Shorelandr trailer and I was able to buy the swivel tongue piece for approx. $200.00 Canadian right from Shorelandr.

It's an easy replacement on the Shorelander, you simply take off the winch post etc and remove the bolt. Slide the old one out and slide the new one in and tighten the bolt.

Check with the manufacturer of the trailer, I'm not sure if all trailer are built the same but it was a relatively painless job on the Shorelandr.

Thanks Bruce,

I have been trying to get someone from Pivit Hitch to call me back, but no luck. I guess they don't sell many of these kits to consumers. I may try Shorelandr.

Thanks for the lead.
