This is a thread that I hope gets even bigger than that crazy avatar thread. I'll update here at least once a week, more if time allows.

You are all going to love this thread. Basically these are pictures directly from the Checkmate Archives. I will be scanning several into the computer each week, then give them a little "tweak" in Photoshop to bring out the colors, or to try to help the exposure. Some are going to look really good, others will simply be the best that they can be. But ALL will be something to enjoy.

Chris, please take care of posting these into the Gallery. I'll take care of digging up the cool photos.

So sit back, get ready, hear we go.

Now please, no requests, I'm just going to bring what gets pulled out for the day. Its a big enough job with that.

First off, Playmate fans, this week its for you.

The date on these next few slides is 1985.

Did Checkmate sell a lot of these? If yes, I have to believe you must be able to find these going to waste behind peoples sheds?? I just did a quick craigslist search but only found 1 in Ohio. They must be super fun!

Yes, working on a new site, used that pic as a fill in page, just cause it looked so good.
Not sure if it will actually become a registry yet, but it will at least become an online archive.

Yes it was many moons ago. Wonder how many of thoes I taped. I was doing 3 or 4 custom tape offs a day and more with standard tape offs.I think my favorite boat boat:drool::drool::drool: was a sportfire black with red flake mist with custom tape off of red frost and black insert and of course you had to mix a cup of pearl into each gallon of clear gel coat to give it that million dollar twinkel. Me & my brother were going to race that monster ........but we ended up selling it before we raced it. Don't know what ever happened to it though !? It was a full out race boat ...no cabin at all just reinforcement bulkheads, Balsa floor & transom along with bolster seat frame. It was kind of an experiment to see how much weight we could take out of a big boat like that.....ended up taking about 1,800 + pounds out of the boat ! Anybody on the board ever see this boat ? KC

I have a question, when I first joined the site I saw a boat on here only once... I saw a pic of a Checkmate Tunnel Hull it looked like it was 16 - 20 ft and could seat 4. Did I imagine it or was it a boat that Checkmate made???? I know of a similar boat that resembled what I saw it was made in the mid 1980's it was called a ( Top Gun Tunnel Hull I saw it with a 225 outboard on it )
