Hi there, I was just replying to another post by Black Pulse about the Toronto Boat Show. It was reported in this area a couple of months ago that New Ark Marina has begun to carry the Checkmate line. I just double checked the Boat Show web site and New Ark is listed as an exhibitor, hence, maybe they'll bring some Checkmates.
I just sent them an e-mail asking if they are planning to bring any, if there're not , perhaps we can persuade them into it.
Worth a shot anyway !!
I'll report back in when I hear something, if I don't see anything by noon tomorrow I'll give them a call.

Alright, we got detective Bruce on the case!! I have visited New Ark Marine's website a couple of times over the past month and they still don't list Checkmate on their site as a line they carry....
Black Pulse
my main interest at the boat show is to see Checkmate boats so I hope they are there...

Hi there, no e-mail by noon today so I called the Marina. I got a voice message indicating that the Marina is closed until Monday Jan 10, 2005.
We may have to wait until next Monday, I'm guessing no one is checking the e-mail.
As soon as I get an answer, I'll report back in

Bruce:
I'll try to get a hold of the sales manager for the boat show - i've been dealing with him a lot for our own booth. I'll see if he knows anything.

Good news fellas:
I talked to the boat show people this morning, 2 Checkmates (don't know what models) will be appearing at the boat show.
New Ark Marina will bringing them. One will be in the booth, the other in the Lake in the Ricoh building.
The lake is under the ice surface of the Ricoh building, they remove the deck and pump it full of water to 5 feet deep. I haven't seen it but it sounds neat. I think they put 20-30 boats in the water.
This years show is bigger then last years, it runs from Jan 14-23.
For more info: TARGET=_blank>www.www.torontoboatshow.com (http://www.torontoboatshow.com)</A>
It is a huge show, easily spend a whole day there.
I'll be working it at the Woodland Marine booth (Caravelle boats), drop by and say hi.

Sounds like a plan to me...
Anyone recommend the best way (directions) from Detroit/Windsor...to the Toronto Boat Show?
How is parking at the show...availability, location, etc???

Great News as Chris E has mentioned, in addition I received an e-mail from one of the sales people this morning indicating that Checkmate will be part of their booth.
Chris E got the inside scoop with respect to how many, I have sent another note to ask if there in a position to let us know what models.
Lauri Wachtler of New Ark Marina indicated that they will be there every day and invited us to stop bye and say hello.
I mentioned about the web site that Chris has started (this one) and that there are many many Checkmate fans roaming about.
Jrumon, probably the best way would be to jump on the 401 from Windsor and come all the way up to the Toronto area, take the 427 south to the Queen Elizabeth Way East to Gardiner Expressway East and follow the signs to the Exhibition. Lots of parking, although they tend to "nail" you price wise. Like Chris E suggested, check out the web site, all the information is there.
Any questions, there are a few of us up here that can certainly help you out.
Thanks Chris E for getting the inside scoop for us.

"Kinda dont want to ruin the surprise" - well i do!! http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/devil.gif
Made 2 trips to toronto today, delivering boats - 850km and counting, while i was there i took a little tour around the staging area and found what appeared to be a pulsare 2100 (similiar to SCT's and what appeared to be a red 1850. They were wrapped from the gunnels up so i couldn't tell if they were bowriders or not - probably are though.
Took a walk into the national trade center to see what was up - Sea Ray, Regal, Cruisers were already set up. Prides and Gordon Bay were setting ip like crazy - I counted 8 tractor trailer loads of boats for prides - donzis, pursuits, nautiques and crownlines. You know you're big when you have to hire a trucking company to move your boats for you!!
Also sitting outside on a wild looking trailer was a cat about 40-45 feet long with twin arneson jet drives - yellow and purple - really cool looking. The trailer tilts the boat on it's side so it will be legal to haul - neat.
They had the liner in the indoor lake and looks like they are ready to fill it with water - that should be full on wednesday when i go back down for set up day http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sick.gif
Down where i am working (caravelle), they were piling a bunch of dirt up into what looks like a pond or something.
Anyway, looks like it will be an interesting show. You know, it simply amazing how that building is basically empty right now and by friday morning it will be a complete and fully functioning show.

Alright, this show sounds great, I can hardly wait...
I just got my tickets (2) sent to me by a local Muskoka marine where I used to work a few summers back...
Think I will go on Sunday, even though I bet the weekends will be crazy busy....I am interested in seeing the red 1850 if that is indeed what Chris E saw...
See you all at the show...

Spent the day down in Toronto yesterday. Had a walk around last night - 2 checkmates on display in the New Ark booth, red 1850 and a blue ZT218 (i think - wasn't that close), i didn't see the 2100 pulsare - maybe that's the one going into the lake.
By far the most interesting thing i saw yesterday was a fire truck doing 360's in the northbound lanes of the 400 during the freezing rain yesterday morning. I'm sure they needed a change of underwear after that adventure. I don't know how it didn't hit anything.

The best thing I "DIDN'T SEE" was a 200 car & truck pile up on I-96 yesterday near Lansing, Michigan. 10 dead, 6 critical, and 39 others injured! http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/jpshakehead.gif
Hope to see you at the show! Jim.
