At the recommendation of Jay Smith, I ran Penzoil 100% synthetic in a 2001 Mercury 225 EFI. More rpm and less smoke.

Davey...Go back to the begining of the " Outboard Technical Discussion" post's and go down about 18 threads. You'll find a very good discussion about " Which injector oil do you use" that should answer all of your questions.

After I completed the break in process on my rebuilt merc I switched to penzoil. Allot less smoke, smells good to.

You must be talking the regular Pennzoil 2-stroke oil at $12 a gallon, which isn't recommended. The good stuff is the Pennzoil 100% Synthetic Marine at $19.95 a gallon at some Wallmarts and most Menards.

umm, I know im gonna get some ribbing but...
its the synthetic xtra life blend for older outboards and has the same rating as the evinrude xd50. i dont rev my motor over 6000rpm so i believe its fine for me. To further the abuse from some members ill also add that I still use the VRO system.:poke:
