We guys looks like i'm next in line to replace my floor. Yesterday after we got back from the river I was vaccuming the carpet and noticed the seat was loose. I found a soft spot were water was going thru the bolts holes.:( I'm going to do a quick patch job to get me thru the summer, hopefully. In the mean time I've read every post on floor/stringer replacement i could find here, very informative stuff.

The questions I have for those who that's done it already and that are going thru right now are:

What has work for you the best as far as materials, wood, fiberglass resin, mat etc.

To prevent water from entering thru the screws i've noticed some of you have built boxes for your pedestals/seats. What type of bolts/screws did you use to mount the seats?

I'm sure i'll have more questions when I tear it apart this fall.

On the bright side I've got the engine running smooth now.:D

short and too the point - plywood, polyester resin, fiberglass mat and what the wholesaler called "boat cloth"

stainless screws and fasteners all the way, standard metal screws will rust and disappear.

Consider using Epoxy Resin, its much more user friendly with more pot time and considerably stronger. There are other products out there that are not as pricey as West System.

When I built the seat boxes for my seat I glassed SS nuts on the back side. Makes it easy to bolt the seats mounts on.
