Is anything ever planned for inland lake or river get togethers? My Enticer is definitely too small for the great lakes, but may be OK for Jobbie Nooner.
Also, I'm pretty close to the lake-heavy areas of Pinckney and West Bloomfield, any other areas down around Metro Detroit that'll be good to visit? Closer is definitely better- more gas for the boat instead of the truck!

I was thinking about Briun/Halfmoon chain 20min northwest of Ann Arbor with a state camp grd. on Bruin and a metro park on Halfmoon. And theres a popalure sandbar thats visted by both locals and campers. But I've rememberd theres a fairshare of shallow ares in the lakes.:eyecrazy: Pretty area too.
But Anchor Bay in Lake St.Clair is nice(with a great clean, hard sand anchorage/swim area) with a run up the St. Clair river a few miles is very scenic thru Harsenins Island with a cool restraunt/bar located on the the river a mile or two up.
Downriver area is smaller boat freindly and vist over to Canada is part of the day. Some times more trouble than its worth.Crystal Bay is nice but not the fun it was yrs ago
I'm up for just about anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! merc245:surf:
I'm working June 27th won't make Jobbie

There is talk of setting something up on the Saginaw river. Very easy access from I 75. A few bars and Hooters on the water, short trip to Saginaw Bay if you want to hit the big water.

I hit woodland after work sometimes - it's about 1 mile off of the Brighton exit and has no shallows. Has a sand bar and isn't too crowded, but not really long enough to go real fast very safely. Nice for swimming with the kiddies on a hot day.
My buddy goes to the chain or lakes - I think thats the one that has half moon and strawberry, very crowded on the weekends lots of shallows and some narrow bridges.
Bellville lake is nice and long, but the water there is 'uh questionable. Good place for speed.
Don't worry Ross - I'm looking forward to Elk this summer!! We will be up there the weekend after the 4th, and that following week. My buddy has a white 19' 4 winns BR - can't miss it... ha ha - maybe look for the maroon starliner instead. We'll make some plans closer to the date to hook up there.
We will be at burt lake campground June 14 weekend. Anyone interested? Supposed to be a really nice campground. Again, just look for the white 19' four winns!

I was thinking the same thing. Made that run from the Clinton River up to the Black in Port Huron. For small boats is does get hairy under the blue water bridge. That run will also allow boats from down river to venture up the Detroit river through ST. Clair to join.
Anyone know how far the haul is from the Saginaw River along the thumb to Port Huron? Just thinking that way Downriver Mates could meet up with Mid-Michigan Mates.

its a haul from anchor bay to port huron.
It's a good couple hours and 30 gallons of gas form what I can remember.
I remember a couple of times running into a group of Mates 25' + length running together around harsens island area. Now this is like 19 years ago.

All I know is that either the hooters in saginaw or bay city oughta be a stop if we're up that way. Do they both still have docks? It's been a long time since I've been up there.
Anyone ever been on Whitmore Lake? Huge, but I've heard there's some shallow spots that can ruin your day.

The Hooters in Saginaw moved, it is no longer on the river. The one in Bay City is still going strong, tough to find dock space on a nice weekend.

The docks fill up fast on the weekends at Hooters in Bay City, mid week isn't bad before 6 pm if your out there.
And you will need your trailer to visit the Saginaw Hooters:(

Island is fine, use to hang out around there p[rior to getting a slip on Cass lake. Easy run. Use to hang out at Belle River on the Canadian side. Put in on the detroit river just over the border from GPP. It's been some 16 years since I've been on ST Clair.

The earlier in the year the better for me, have a baby set to show up around the first of August. Still working on getting my Enticer ready for the water though. Can my 16.5' make it in the water we're talking about? Never been out there myself.

Thanks for the offer! I really WANT to run my boat over there, just would rather not ruin it on its maiden voyage. I'm sure it helps a ton to know a little about the area before heading out...

I Use to run allover St.Clair in my sportfire. Its only about 4 miles across Anchor Bay over to Harsens Island and the channels. There's really no reason to get out the the bigger part of the lake.Use the DNR boatramp at the end of south river rd and practicly out in the center of Anchor Bay to start.

Get off I-94 heading east towards Selfridge ANGB DNR launch is right there.
If you head NE on Jefferson there are also 2 or 3 before you get to Algonac.
I always launch at the one in Algonac simply cause it puts my little hull directly in the North channel and I don't have to cross the lake, but any
of them will get you to the party.

I believe Merc245 proposed a couple dates a while back, and there definitely seems to be interest. (I can't yet commit cause I don't have my boat back) Up for review are:
May 24
June 7
Anyone? Other dates to propose?

Based on a couple of videos illmattic has posted here, the Saginaw River would definitely be an option. Could we compare/contrast the Saginaw vs the Anchor Bay run?
Where can you put in on the Saginaw?

I kinda LIKE to get IN the water and ENJOY it.And I run past enough Idustrail sites here down river. My vote is for Anchor BAY/HARSENS ISLAND/ST.CLAIR:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::b ounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::bou nce::bounce::bounce::bounce:.Plus theres several nice eateries either on Clinton river or Browns on the middle channel on Harsens.Just the whole Area is more scenic and BOATER FRIENDLY!!!!!!
They moved the Detroit poker back to June 21 opening Sat May 31 for me, or the 7th of June or ?:poke:
I'll put a get together on top of my priority list.:thumb:

Their are many in Saginaw & Bay City, from Vet's park in Bay City going toward the bay you will have to deal with a long nowake zone, I'm guessing close to 3 miles or so :(

There is plenty of space to run wide open on the Saginaw river. If thats not good enough you can head out to the bay. The no wake zone is annoying, but at the end is Hooters.

plus i have a nice spot i go to on the south channel on the backside of russel island, to clean the bottom of my boat

I agree between Bay City & Saginaw you can drop the hammer for a long way.
