View Full Version : XRI overheating at idle

My 96 Merc XRI 150 is overheating at dle no water is coming out of the pee hle until around 1500 rpm
It doesn't overheat at all long as i keep it above 1500 rpm
I put a new impeller and pump housing in it

Did you have this problem before you changed the pump impeller

what shape was the impellor ? possible blockage ?

did you change out both upper and lower housing, sometimes they can warp and cause a leak - just a thought

Laplant I had a similar problem like yours. Mine was the base plate in the lower unit was warp from the heat. I replaced the upper and lower housing and that solve my overheating issues.
