on the top of my hull the clear gellcoat is now yellowed. can i just sand this old top coat to get back to the black and silver undercoat? i want to just re clear the top. the black base coat wouldnt be what has turned a yellow color, would it?

There is a post below from a couple of weeks ago on linear polyurethane that may help. No one here seems to have tried it, but the website link has some interesting info. Just a thought.

Be very careful sanding, and then multiple layers of good clear coat and it'll look great. Buddy of mine had the predictor with the red metal flake/silver metal flake highlights and it looked GREAT with new clear.

DON'T SAND TO MUCH. THE CLEAR AND COLORED GELL IS ONLY A FEW MIL'S THICK. The gell is reasonally thick in the areas where the flake is but where it's just colored watch out!!!
