Well as of last weekend I have a new speed record for my '87 Starflite. I hit 70.3 on GPS at about 3/4 to 7/8 throttle. My 24p Raker is just too small and the rpm shoots to 7500 before I can reign it in. I have a 29p Allison cut Chopper on the way so we'll see what that does for me.
Anyway on to the pics.
My brother and I heading out to warm her up.

Guess I should remove my S&F response referring you to checkmate-boats.com! You're already here!;) With the correct setup, you boat should be capable of speeds into the upper 80's..maybe low 90's! Alot will have to do with setback, gearcase, and prop sellection. With the heavy V8, I don't think you would need more than 10" setback..foot throttle, solid mounts, coned lower with low water pickups, hyd. steering & jackplate, DAH Chopper 29-30, goggles, kill switch and an Xtra pair of boxers should get you there!:bigthumb: Be safe!
Awesome pics that is a great looking boat

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind words. It really puts a smile on my face to see other Checkmate guys (and boaters in general) take interest in what I'm building. It is such a blast to drive and it sounds wonderful with the offshore mid. I've wanted a Starliner/Starflite since I was a kid, probably about 13 years old, and no other boat manufacturer out there ever caught my attention. Now here I am 13 years later with my Starflite and now look what it's become. I never thought I'd have such a beast of a motor hanging off the back but circumstances (fire back in 10/07) have made me focus more on the boat and it has come along way in a short time. I'm currently finishing up a new trailer for it and next comes the buffing of the gelcoat. Will it ever be complete?
I'd love to meet up with some of you guys but you all (I guess it's me really) are so far away. Hopefully jgreen and I can finally meet up this July when I'm in MN on vacation. Yes I will have the boat in tow. Maybe I could do a tour of sorts, stop at a major water hole in every state along the way. :)

Great looking boat. When are you going to be in MN? Always looking for a few more Mates to run the St. Croix.
