I was wondering instead of stripping all the paint off my lower unit if you all think it would be a good idea to sand blast as long as cover the pee wholes and everything else? Then what kind of paint and prep do you do to paint and clear it? Or do you clear it my lower unit has seen better days and i wanted to shine her up a little?

post a pic as to how bad it is........ i'm gettin gready to do mine and i will say that when it's in the water w/ my j/p you do not see the lower at all so i'm going to just spiff her up a lil' and not wory about it looking show room for now!

I hear that emron is a real good paint to use, I used centari when I painted mine. I had a Bob's Nose Cone welded in place and I modified mine so the drain for the gear lube is still usable. I scuffed it up good after using the epoxy from the kit and tiger hair and poly resin filler to smooth it out and shot it with "Pitch Black Centari " and I haven't decided if I want to Clear it or not ?

I would just keep it simple and use some krylon or duplicolor. Its gonna get scratched up sooner or later, thats just my cheap ass though.

I had a TorqueMaster powder coated Black. It looked great and held up very well.

The unit was empty when powder coated and then rebuilt.

It cost more than painting but I think it is a long term fix.
