hey guys, i just noticed today that my 1982 enticer has a 21pitch 12 3/4 inch prop, it is stainless, but when talking to my tech who used to play with these types of boats he remembered using 17-19pitch, what do you guys think, it seems to me that after hole shot that it is some what lethargic, see its all new to me and im trying to do it right, and with having a tach from 1982 who knows how accurate it is, also, pad to cav plate height, where should i be??? its original and has the factory steel transom plate and then some wedges, any idea on where i should be for optimal running???? thanks guys i appreciate your help, between you guys here and the scream and fly guys its like one big happy family, thank you, Brannon

Im running mine with a 2.5in J/P
2" below the pad and a 24P Turbo 4-blade
spinning around 5500 rpm
i would say without a jackplate 21-22p would be perfect
a laser2 or raker would be ideal.

17P is to small. You need to find out if your engine is crank or prop shaft rated.

ITS A 1982 AND I THOUGHT UNFORTUNATELY THAT THEY WERE STILL CRANK HP, WHICH WOULD MAKE IT LIKE 115-120??? I THOUGHT THAT WAS TOO MUCH PROP BUT I GUESS NOT, ANY OTHER IDEAS LET ME KNOW, THANKS AGAIN GUYS

Get 6" of set back, raise the engine as high as you can go with good water pressure. I personally like the LaserII prop on this hull much better then the Raker.
If do not decide to get a jackplate, try a 21P Ballistic. I had one on mine when I had the 115 Johnson and no jackplate and it was by far the fastest.

my diplomat had the small v-4 140 when i got it after 2 lower unit rebuilds and motor rebuild i steped up to a 1991 or so new looper 140
with the old 140 a 20 pitch raker no j/p was about all it would pull
with the new 140 i was turning a 22 raker with a j/p at 6300
the dip is a little wider and weighs more
what rpms are you turning now at wot?

hey daren, since im still cleaning up the cylinders to get the carbon out and old gas im making sure it stays together, the motor says 4500-5500, now my tach is 1982 should i trust it??? it willingly goes over 5k, but i will pay attention today, and post the #'s, once again thanks

should be solid state but not always acurate
you can have it tested against a digital tach
most new timing lights have a digital tach
i used to turn mine 6000 all the time but had to rebuild after 2 years
remember that motor is only 1600cc's at 140 horse it is on the edge of its power range
never run cheap gas station oil or you will have to put new plugs in on the lake!!!!!!!!
i used to run mine a little lean at 15 gal to quart of oil isntead of 12 gallons
that may be why i had to rebuild every 2 years
i i first got the boat it had a stainless 13x19 but i never found out who made it
when i had the lower unit rebuilt the second time the guy did not tighten the prop nut
