I have a 150 yammie with no jack plate because i am in deep water when i boat like over 80'. I was wondering what increases i would see if i brought the motor up on the plate about 2"? I have 4 hole total and it is on the 2nd hole from the top. I have a 21p aluminum prop on now just because i havent found a prop that has worked better and i really havent had time to look for one. I dont plan on adding a jack plate just cause i dont really think i need or want one. Would bringing the plate up 2" really help? obviously it would help with drag in the water but would i still have good water pressure and would i gain a better hole shot, better top end and mid range? Thanks for all you thoughts!:surf:

getting rid of that prop is your first step! Post what length/weight boat and hull design and
I could offer a suggestion. Used props on Scream & Fly are in the $150 range... if it doesn't
work, you could re-sell it! It's a pain... but will save cash!

you should see an improvement in top speed with a better prop

the main reason for more set back and raising the motor is to stop chine-walk

Stroker, the best money I ever spent on my Enticer was the CMC manual jack-plate. It made the boat come alive and gave me access to easy adjustments when dialing in the handling. Enticers rule, yours must fly with the 150.

Better have a water press. gauge if you're gonna play wit the eng. height, and/or LWP!
It's easy to get caught up in the moment and forget the overheat thing... and most alarms can't be heard 'till it's too late! But that's correct! Chine walk will almost completely disappear
and top speed will increase. Depending on where your exhaust exits, you may suffer hole shot
a little. Thru hub props will only cavitate a little... over hub (racing type) without modifications
will blow out much longer (depending on height) Figure out what your goal is!
