my 300 v-8 johnson sets off a solid tone after abot a minute. motor is getting good water pressure 25psi on gauge w/o about 5psi at idle. motor dose'nt seem to be overheating, hase'nt melted down yet with over 50 hours and no signs of overheating when we tore down the heads this year. what could be setting of the horn,I'd really like too hook it back up incase of a problem occurs with the VRO.

The solid tone is supposed to indicate overheating and since your's isn't there's obviously an electrical gremlin at work here.
I've had faulty temp senders cause this problem but I've seen others w/the same problem and it was resolved differently. You might PM " Wide Open" and get his take on this too.
