Yesterday,

I went out on the river and met up with a bunch of other folks who had been at our local Harborfest celebration this past weekend. When I arrived there was a 40 ft cigarrette, 38 ft Donzi, 38 ft Scarabs, 24 ft Baja, and 32 ft Formulas, in addition to your normal river crowd.

I was talking and floating with the group and enjoying some cold "refreshments" when one of the trophy wives said "Hey honey, look at the little Checkmate"...

She might as well have said I had a little pecker !!!

I grabbed another beverage, the topic changed to something else and that was that... but boy what a way to make you feel small. My boats nearly 24 ft and perfect for us, but I didn't think it was "little".

I guess I'll get the last laugh at the gas pump...

You know what they say: it's not the size of the boat... its the lack of cells in her brain :thumb:

There is nothing wrong with a 23-24' boat, I rode a 12' Avon for 9 years and had plenty of gf's/female friends "co-piloting" and nobody ever gave me a hard time about it. Now I ride a 17'1" Checkmate and if some dumb broad wants to open her mouth over few feet or hp, I've got another measurement that will give her a mouthful.

You will see that on every lake. Their is always going to be a boat, longer, bigger and faster.

I got my laugh last year. I was hanging out at the local bar on the lake when a slick 30+ donzi pulled up. The guy had 2 kids with him as soon as they got on the dock they ran over to my jetboat. They started calling their dad over to look at the engine hanging out. But the dad acted like he could not here them. I guess he was to cool to look at a smaller boat.

As the saying goes, it's not the size of the boat that matters but the motion in the ocean!!! You should've taken the trophy wife for a boat ride!!!:D I was at a restaurant/bar called "Shrimpers" in Stuart, FL a couple sundays ago...with all the big boats docked up, including center consoles, cruisers, sport boats and a handful of small Hydrostreams, Jersy Skiffs, etc....a couple guys walked down the dock and pulled out a camera...guess what boat they took pictures of??? Yeah, you could call my Pulsare small, outdated, or anything else you want..but it's still the best looking/best handling boat on the water for it's size and I'm proud that is says Checkmate down the side!!:thumb:
