1979 17’ Checkmate Eluder Bow-rider w/ 1979 115 HP Evinrude V4 and 1998 Trailer

Boat was redone approximately four years ago including:

Professionally painted sides and top (above waterline).

Rebuilt 115HP Evinrude with new pistons.

Main floor structure was replaced and new marine carpet installed.

Complete new interior including new resin coated marine plywood frames and marine quality vinyl upholstery.

New stainless steel motor mounting plate installed.

New 15 gallon fuel tank.

New Steering wheel and cable.

This is a great little boat with a very wide beam, nice ride and lots of seating. It will do about 40 mph depending on the water conditions and amount of people. A 1998 trailer is included with the boat and is in great condition.

The bad:

Paint on sides is holding up great but the top does have some small pin-holes near the back rail along with a small area ( about 1" X 2") where some of the top-coat has flaked off.

A soft spot has developed in the passage area between the windshields. Not a structural area but should be reinforced.

Mechanically the motor is sound but I think some moisture is getting into one of the power packs causing hard starting. I purchased a new one but did not install yet. If the boat sells before I’m able to install I will include the power pack. My plan was to eventually purchase a newer engine for a nice combination but a new boat purchase forces the sale of this one.

$3000 OBO. Sorry no trades. Boat is located in Toms River, NJ.

If this was up for sale 3 months ago I would have picked it up, but I've already poured a few grand into mine in the last couple months. Good luck, though!

I may have put this into a map and see how far away you are. I'm about an hour north west of Albany, NY. From the pics it looks like no power tilt/trim correct.

Yes it has a power trim/tilt. Works too!

Hmmm ...... I'll have to keep an eye on the auction. I would certainly give you $1000 for it. Looks like about 4 hour or so ride for me.

I just hope he's using it and not just looking to turn it. I think he got a hell of a deal :cheers. Not to worry, I left work to look at two Checkmates today. By the time I got home I had looked at four Checkmates and a Hydrostream I looked at previously (it was on the way :)). Funny thing is, I'm most inerested in the two Checkmates that I came upon somewhat by accident. Made an offer on one. We'll see where that goes. That one looks extremely turnkey, but I'm not sure my offer will get me anywhere. The other is a bit of a project. '88 Diplomat, faded exterior, trashed interior, but the floor seems solid as does the transom. It has an old Merc 110 on it. I gotta say, the old Merc looks really good hanging off of it .... and I am an OMC guy :p.
