For info. regarding a '79 Enchanter, check the Gallery & Showroom forum and find the '79 brochure (I'm pretty sure it's there). I have an '83 O/B (you don't say whether you have I/O or O/B). The O/B was a fairly fast, rugged hull for the time (it won a couple of events in '78/79 as documented in the brochure). It is heavier & slower than say a Hydrostream of similar vintage, but roomier and more rugged. With regard to ride, it has a fairly shallow hull angle (18 deg) and a long narrow pad; so it's rough water ride is not as good as one of the later deep vee's (21 deg) such as Superboat or one of it's clones. The O/B needs a fair amount of engine setback to carry the nose and the Mercury Trophy is a good all-around prop). Typically the hull has some hook in it that prevents best speeds without blueprinting. Mine has run 60 with the stock 200 Merc and a Michigan Wheel prop. I hope to change the setup and tweak the motor (or replace) to improve this. Some on the forum have claimed as high as 80mph (do a search).
