Hi all, I finally got some pics of my old 83 Enforcer together for you to see...Let me know what you think of it..I bought it last year for 3,000 bucks. It had an old 235 Johnson on it, and it was painted all black with a roller and brush...I always liked the look of the Enforcer hull, the O/B versions deck is 2 feet longer than it's I/O counterpart, which gives it a really sleek look. To make it look like a 21 century boat, I removed the windshield and painted the hump the windsheild sat on and bordered it to look like a low profile windscreen, removed the bow rails, added flush cleat and bow light to smooth it out further. It has an all new cabin and interior, bulkheads, cabin doors, gages, wiring, etc. The prep work for paint was a huge job. It had 2 paint jobs over it's original eggshell and brown gelcoat (Yuck). Everything is new except for the gas tank!! It was a very early model without a porta-pot, so I had to fabricate one to fit. I knew a Merc 300X was the pefect motor for this rig before I bought it. I added a 8 inch Detweiler jackplate to it, a hydraulic steering system, and lowered the steering wheel location so it wouldn't stick up to high due to not having the original windshield...the graphics were done locally, and the paint is a one stage Dupont enamal. She runs solid 75 on GPS handles like a dream, no porpoising at all, handles the ocean on a nice day, can handle most lakes with ease, sleeps 2 great, easy to trailer, the perfect boat for me. I have had many boaters with Checkmates ask me what kind of boat it is!! I guess it's a Checkmate in disguise. It is my version of the new Pulshttp://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/50thaniversery005.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/endofsummer2005015.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/boat05014.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/boat05004.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/boat05006.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/50thaniversery006.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/boat05018.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c363/8711260/boat05003.jpg aire 2400 for a fraction of the price!!! thanks...Al...

Thanks guys...Now that it's done it seems worth it!! Orangecrush, I usually lauch @ Haddam Meadows or Old Saybrook...Boston Predictor, the boat is 23feet 2 inches long, production was pretty low on the outboard hull back then, 'cause all they made back then were 200 Mercs, or 235 OMCs, they ran low 50s at best, the motor looked pretty tiny on the back..so the I/O was a better seller, mid to high 60s with a big block...Checkmate had foresight, they rated it for 300HP. I will throw my hat In for the Boat of the month...Thanks...AL

Great job on the boat! I can see what you mean about the engine being small on the back. That boat swallows that 300x and that is not a small outboard in person!

That boat is SWEEEET, someone at the factory should take notes on your restoration, people would buy that today. I couldn't look away from the pictures or wipe the grin off my face. Big Blocks are great but a big black eggbeater gets the grins.

Checkmate still builds a version of this boat. They call it a Pulsare 2400, they built the plugs for the 2400 using an Enforcer OB that they repurchased.:surf:

I still have this boat and am still loving it..I've only had to replace the alternator on my 300X and this is my 4th season with it. I receive compliments everywhere I take it..Everyone thinks its new..Coop is right about the 24 Pulse being born from an Enforcer..I found a old Enforcer hull in Ct for Kip at Checkmate, they hauled it back to Ohio and they used that to design the plug for the new 24...Thanks for the compliments on my rig..I will post some fresh pics on this thread in the next week...Al

Boat looks great...
I am doing something similar with my families 1987 21' Starliner with a built 2.5 on the back. (same brown gel-coat, I don't mind it, but my girl hates it)
The bigger mates with a small (in size not HP) "egg beater" out back are sleepers for the big blocks till you pass em @ 80. :thumb: LOL
Hope mine comes out this good. It would be great to have 2 vintage mates ruling CT waters again. I mostly stay in the Huzzy, but a trip to the CT River is always an option.:bigthumb:
Hope to see you out there next summer.:cheers
Congrats

Al,
I have a 83 enforcer lined up to purchase; I noticed your motor well is much narrower than the 83 I am looking at. Did you change the motor well; or is this a in between 83-84 model year? :). I also would be curious about what you did w/ your cuddy; do you have pics you might be willing to share? Great looking boat; I hope the resto I am planning will turn out simmilar. BTW the new pics look great.:thumb:

Rod Rod, Mine is an early 83. I beleive they had a smaller motor well..the deck hatch is smaller as well. My boat had no place for a porta-potty, so I had to make provisions for one...the v berth area is lowered for more headroom without a pora-potti...When they added a porta they raised the v berth to make the potti fit under the v berth..I am putting mine away this weekend, I will snap a few cabin pics for you...Thanks...Al

The 83 enforcer I am trying to arrange purchase on is up at the Checkmate mfg facility. It has the wide motor well to mount twins. I wasn't aware that checkmate made the two different size wells in the same model year. Thats good to know.
FYI if anyone needs a trailer; The trailer it is sitting on is for sale. Contact Kip. If the seller is asking too much let me know. I will purchase the boat and trailer and make you a deal on the trailer:thumb:
Thats the only hitch to this deal. I have a trailer I have restored and tried to sell. I have far too much money in it; and w/ the flood of factory direct aluminum trailers out there; mine isn't all that desirable price wise. I'll keep mine and make anyone a deal on the other:D

Al,
Thanks, I would really like to see the berth; it would be a big help. Once I aquire the boat, I hope I can tap into your experience w/ the enforcer resto. My plan is to use the blog feature on this forum to log my progress. I have particular interest in the coatings you used for the exterior; and how and what you used to replace the floor and floatation. Thanks

If I ever get an enforcer the windshield is comming off! I love this enforcer!:bigthumb: Thanks Boston, It took me a year to find a windshield for my boat. I finally found a used one and rebuilt it with new rubber and powdercoated it. I went to install it, and it made the boat look bad..I was shocked! A year trying to find a windsheild and now this! It took the sleek lines of the hull away..And made it look like an old boat again. I did a test..I left half othe windshield on one side and covered the hump the windsheild sat on with black paper to mimic a low profile windscreen on the other side and asked 15 people, mostly non boaters which side looked better...Not one person said the windshield side looked better! So off it went...All of the new boats these days are done in the same fashion...The windscreen/shield area is part of the hull...Wind in your face is not as bad as I thought...My freinds Baja H2X is worse than mine with its factory windscreen...PS My very first boat was a Predictor!!!....Al

I can appreciate how much work that must have been.
I took the easy way out and bought a new one, although I will miss the history with my starliner. Just have to make new memories.
