is there a rpm limiter on my 1993 merc 200 2.5l ?

would i benifit by disabling this rpm limiter.

even with a 21 pitch three blade it would max out at 5300 rpm :brickwall:

it has spark on each cylinder. has new wires too. :poke:

take it to a public scale and weigh it
the foam may be waterloged

Yikes! Filled with water? It's for certain waterlogged then. The floors of those old Mates were not well sealed. The bow foam you can drill a hole in the bottom of the bulkhead and see if water drains out. The waterlogged foam you can dig out. Do a search on the forum lots of guys have done it.
The worse news is the foam under the floor. I don't know how you are going to get the foam out without tearing up the floor. Maybe you could cut access holes and dig it out. If you do, I would cut them at 45 degree angles so you could just glass the pieces back in. I've done that to get to an area to repair the core.
Maybe someone else has a better idea.

you would have to have 500# of wet foam to run that low of rpms. have you done a compression test?
