Hey gang,

We have a little problem.

We've run out of disk space on our server! So if you've recently sent me pics and haven't found them posted yet, that's the reason. I'm working to get more hard drive space, but it is most likely going to take me a few weeks.

In the interim, as an alternative, you can also host the pics on your own web space and then link to the pics. Or if you search around the net, there are also some free hosting sites which you can upload your photos to and then simply link to.

Chris,do any of the old posts at some point in time get deleted. Is it possible to gain some amount of valuable storage space by making some of the old stuff go away or does that already happen.

Well,

Yes and no. What you are referring to is normally referred to as pruning. We have the board set up where all posts remain indefinately. And that is how I would prefer to leave it. The reality is that we have loaded so many images on to the server that we've simply run out of space. So we are currently looking at different solutions which will hopefully solve the problem on more of a long term basis. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have some storage that I can host some images on for a while if needed. I need to clean it up anyways. You guys are welcome to use it temporarily...

Helmich,

For pic storage you should see if you have free webspace that you are provided with your internet account. Before I had the board, that is what I used.

As far as free sites, most will not allow linking. But you can usually post a link to them, where people can click the link and then go and see them.

Hi everyone.

I've temporarily resolved our server space problem. I am currently working on a more permanent solution, which will hopefully allow us to grow the membership and forums long into the future.

So you can start sending photos to me once again. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Try again. Make sure they are resized, and in the .JPG format. Thanks

JP,

The file you are trying to send is too large. Try breaking it up into smaller pieces and send some today, and maybe some later today or tomorrow.

HEY CHRIS, WHEN YOU SAY "RESIZED AND IN JPG FORMAT" WHAT DOES THAT ENTAIL. HOW DO I KNOW IT IS CORRECT. STILL TRYING TO SEND YOU PICTURES.

send one pic at a time, and make it small in size in photo editor....

You don't have to resize them if you don't know how to. Just try sending a pic or two at a time. If you send a bunch, the file becomes too large for my email box to hold.

Captain,

I'm asking the members to post their own pics now.

This thread is now a couple of years old.

Unfortunately, I simply cannot keep up with the work load of posting everyone's pics not to mention cover the hosting fees of hosting them as well.

There are instructions posted in the picture this forum which detail the two current methods of posting pics.
