quote chris on an old reply in the picture this thread:

Server Storage Space costs a lot of money...
Bandwidth costs a lot of money....
Picture Files are large files....

Now let me explain what you are doing when you load your picture on to Scream's server and then post it here.

You are uploading and storing files on to their server, which in turn costs them money. And then when you post a message here, you are essentially putting a html command in your post, that calls the Scream and fly server, and downloads that file from their server to our users computers when they access that thread. And that, costs them bandwidth and therefore more money.

So the question really should be; Why should Greg at Scream, pay to store and download files that are being posted on this board and not his?

And the answer is; He shouldn't be and won't be.

And this is also the main reason, why files that get loaded up on to our server, are only done by me. Because, I don't want people loading pictures on to our server, and then posting them all over the web at my expense.

this is old reply from chris i found in the tread picture this, but my question is: if you copy the properties of the picture which is posted on this forum, than post it on another forum than is it still possible to see it on the other forum and still cost checkmate-boats.com bandwidth? is this true? if it is, can we do something about it?

Hello Helmich,

What Chris is essentially saying, when the file is uploaded onto ones server space, it costs money. When you post this image somewhere else other then here, it costs him bandwith charges. If you post an image from S & F here, it costs Greg (owner of S & F) bandwidth costs. Say you have an image here, and you post it on anotehr forum, it costs Chris more money. So what his solution is; is not hotlink (or copy) the location of an image and post it here, or vice versa with the files here.

Understand? I know it well as I think that post was directed to me http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sssh.gif

but if i link pic's from my site to this forum it cost chris bandwidth or me bandwidth?
if it cost me i don't care, don't want to cost chris more money.
