Here is a picture at the local marina. I'm getting ready to fill it up with gas. Come to think of it...I do that quite a bit!!

I understand about not being able to pass a gas pump. I just think about going out in the boat and the gas gauge goes down.

1975 Checkmate Tri-mate 2, 2.4 200+Yeah, but it's worth every penny of it. This year we went down the lake pulling three skiers...very cool.
Actually, we can ski all day on about a half a tank of gas. Of course, then I usually go for a ride at full throttle for 10 minutes and burn up the other half.

I leave with 19 gal in tank (full) and I bring 12 gal with me. Went down to east lake for the end of summer blow out with a bunch of people from scream and fly, went through 48 gal. in 2 days.
Would not trade it for anything.

I have a cottage but I don't like leaving the boat in the lake when I'm not there. So when I leave, I pull it out and put it up on the trailer and leave it at the local marina. The owner has known me since I was just a little kid, so he lets me keep it at the marina and use the launch ramp for free. I'm pretty lucky. So every weekend before I launch it, I fill it up at the gas pump. That is where this picture is taken, the gas pump is in the background.
You guys dont even want to know the gas I go through with my 225 Promax and 23" prop...............And I have to buy higher octane too! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

your making me scared! I just sent my 225 to Country Marine to get the full treatment. He already told me I would need a new fuel pump. Maybe I should think twice, NAH!!!

Tay, Price the factory pump, then price an electric pump. I did that and am very happy with the electric. Bought a carter, internal regulator 3.5-4 psi. Works great.

What do you do Gus? Mount it in the tank and then have a switch on the dash?

External pump. Sort of goes, tank-water sep, fuel filter- pump, then to engine. I installed a relay to turn the pump on and off and a switch on the dash. Nice not having to pump the bulb to prime. And it makes it real easy to drain the tank if you need to remove it.

All I can say is that I will never forget my first experience in our boat.... the way the wind was in my hair...my sunglasses on and sitting in the bow of the boat and then the marina guy says "let's open her up a bit"  :eek:my hair is now vertical, my sunglasses so plastered up against my face and my eyes watering madly ..... whooooohoooo.... all I could think of was..I don't care how much this baby costs...Buy Her! :D Not to mention what an exileration it was to waterski behind her. Thank you Checkmate..In the words of the Monkeys "Now I'm a Believer"

I'll sell you the old Pulse when I pick up my new Pulsare. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Of course, that could be ten years from now. :rof:
Talk to SCT about his hull! You might be able to make yourself a deal, AND get to pick a motor!

Our cottage is located in the Almaguin Highlands.
It's a good skiing lake.
The motor was smoking a bit because I had some problems with the oil alarm and was running premix "just in case". Everything is good to go now but I'm running a little rich. :)

People often ask me...
Chris, why do you like Checkmates so much? I mean you've not only got one, but you've also got a website and all kinds of Checkmate brochures and collectables and stuff.
I mean, it's just a boat, isn't it?
So what gives?
Well, here is my response to those who like to ask such questions. :thumb:

Nice Pics Chris!!! Looks like you have it running well. There will always be a soft spot in my heart for checkmates as well. :bigthumb: They are definitely not the fastest out there, but they are one of the best looking, and when you tell people you have a checkmate they automatically think "hot rod":bounce:
Chris

Well fast is relative, to me at least.
To me, going 80 safely is better than going 100 unsafely.
How many blowovers do you see on Scream and Fly with STV's and Hydrostreams?
How many Checkmate blowovers do you see?
For me, I'd be very happy with a 2100 and a 250 XS compared to pretty much anything. And I'll leave it at that. ;) :)
That boat's running awfully wet there Chris, you're gonna have to let me help you with the setup!!
This is with two aboard with the 6" jack plate and 26" Laser II :bigthumb:

Yeah, you're right Jim.
That wasn't actually quite full out.
That part of the lake is quite short, so I can't get it wound out, at least at that point where the photos were taken.
Those shots are just when I started getting into the mid 50's.
I actually need to get a fun run prop as you know.
The high five is a good ski prop, but it's not much of a top end prop.
Maybe boatman can hook me up. :thumb:

Yeah, it's got a bit crap on the bottom.
I've been waiting for my new trailer to come and it's a bit overdue.
I usually don't leave the old gal in the water much, but this year I have had to for a few weeks.
