My brother and I just bought a 1971 Checkmate MX-15. It is powered by an Evinrude 140hp. We are very impressed by the way it shoots out of the hole. It gets a little hairy when you open it up, but I guess that is part of the juice in owning a Checkmate.

My question is this....I know our MX-15 did not come with a windshield from the factory. We would like to add one however. Does anyone know if there is a certain style windshield from another Checkmate that would fit our boat well? Any help as to where I could find one would also be great. Thanks very much.

Welcome to the board and congrats on the new boat. They are a blast to drive. Not sure on the windshield. Coop may no of something that will fit.

I thought some of the MX models had windshields as optional equipment. I'm not sure on the 15 model but my guess is that you could order it as an option.

Here are the brochure pics from the '71 catalogue. I believe the top pics are the MX-15 and bottom are MX-18.

I just checked the brochure a little closer and it looks as if you could order the MX-18 with an optional windshield as well as the Playmate with one.

But things were always evolving, so who knows? Mike at Checkmate probably has the definitive answer I would think. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/thumb.gif

The plot thickens.

The 1970 brochure lists an optional windshield on the MX-15 model. So there ya go... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
