Gelcoat recomendations

Suggestions on what to use to restore the shine to my 92 Starliner, the grey color has not done well in the sunshine over the years.

Is their an aftermarket product that is fairly easy to use?

I would try a product called fitnes-it made by 3m, it seems to work really well on lightly oxides finishes.I would use that before I used rubbing compound, or if its not that bad try some 3m cleaner wax.Just my two cents! Good luck!

My ZT280 got beat up pretty bad last year between the sun and the birds.(on a mooring) I tried 3M products, compound,polished,buffed and it just looked OK. I was told by several people that if I wanted a "new" look I would have to wet sand.Last week I tried a series of products from a company called Island Girl. One word "amazing". First product called Seaglow removed every bird stain on the boat. I had tried just about every recommendation last year and it still looked pretty bad in some areas. It also removed the oxidation on the black/blue graphics topside. Two more products were used and the boat looks better than new. The white is a very bright white with lots of reflection and the center graphics are also very bright(they look new). According to the mfg. it should stay this way most of the year.The 3 step process takes a while but the results are worth it. Boat is now covered on a trailer,let the birds find another target.Hands down the best group of products I have used in 12 years of boating.

I've seen those products on another site. They look like the work chemically not mechanically like most products. What do you think is in them? Citrus solvent? Acid? Ammonia? You can usually tell by the smell. Are they only sold on-line?

They have a "neutral" smell and there are no special precautions to take when you apply any of the products. Before this I tried Poliglow(would NEVER use it again) also Vertglas,that would last pretty much the entire
season in the Northeast but it required several
"coats" to get the shine. The Island Girl products are sold online only. They are expensive but at this point worth every penny.

I went And got this stuff from Home depot it is called Gell Gloss It is in the Counter Top Section It is made for Fiberglass It says it is for boats also ... I have a 83 convincor and it brought back the color great .. I went over the boat 3 times but mine was really bad and the color looks great now ..Just a suggestion
