WANTED: Merc SportJet motor/jet or ???

I am looking for a good running Merc sportjet 90 or 120 motor (any year with or with the jet drive)...I would also consider buying a V6 SportJet 175/200/210/240 but would need the jet drive too (they're different on the V6's)...Any leads out there???? Thanks, Jim.

Hi Jim, before I bought my Checkmate late last year I had a 1995 Sea Ray Sea Rayder with the sportjet 90. I have since sold the boat but had found a good site that zeroes in on Sportjets only. After you go through the threads you will see some obvious things to watch out for, two of the more common ones I had run into myself. Check for the Stator, the latest one is the "Red Kit" versus the original Black. Mine went 2 years ago (couple of hundred dollars), the other is blown pistons, can't remeber what piston but I think mine was #1 and #2. Had my engine rebuilt with 2 new pistons last year. Those are the 2 show stoppers to watch out for, here's the link to the web site

Hey, thanks for the link...Mines a bit weak...and looking for a good 90 or 120 is like finding a needle in a haystack...what was Merc thinking when they used the "Force" powerhead for these sportjets!!! Junk, Junk, Junk!!! Anyway...I would love to find a wrecked or damaged newer boat that I could grab the drive-train from with the V6 Merc power (one with a real powerhead)...I guess the pumps are also different (bigger impeller). I would love to graft a V6 sportjet assemble into this light hull...I bet 60MPH could happen! Any leads on boat salvage yards out there???

Still looking.... my 90 now runs great, but looking for a 120 complete powerhead only or better yet a V6 175HP or bigger powerhead with or without the jet drive...any sportjet V6 or M2 jet drive parts too!!!
