I was wondering what was the farest one pulled his boat for vacation.Years back I took my starflite out to lake havassu from the detriot area. 2200+ miles one way' what was I thinging. It was differant boating & sking along sheer 200/300 ft. cliffs' Copper cayon was wild but I seen wilder.(party cove at lake of the ozark's is the best). The boats out west was amazing if you spend 100Gs and do 125 mph you were middle of the pack. After 10 days of 90/100 degee days I headed home 2200+ miles in 45hrs. 35 driving 10 sleeping. And put the boat in my home waters the next day. merc245

Fortunately....I live on the lake...Greers Ferry Arkansas.....most of the year....especially summers.....so I don't have to drive at all................I drive 3 miles to put the boats in the water in the spring and take them out in the late fall.............
mine stays raised on compressed air at our boat dock during the summer............

I agree LOTO is cool....but its like New Orleans......its great to visit....but I don't want to live there..........

I can be in the largest fresh water system in the world in 5 minutes. But you still need to get out and show off you rig now and then. Thats half the fun. Lake of the Ozarks was a blast also, lots to do in and out of the water. The camping was wonderful as to were the pepole too.The only trouble was I lost my tranny on the way home. But made the best of that also. merc245

This past August, we pulled our boat 600 miles to Green Bay Wisc, for the so called Checkmate convention. When we got there, only 4 boats showed up, and it rained the whole time we were there. We started for home and decided to head for Lake of the Ozarks for some boating. LOTO is a great lake, but our 25 footer is way too small for all the big boats on that lake. All total we pulled the boat about 1800 miles, but we had fun. We live 10 miles from Kentucky Lake and travel long distances to see other lakes.

THEN THERE WAS THE CHAIN OF LAKES TRIP. I THINK ITS CALLED THE FOX LAKE CHAIN. ABOUT A HOUR NORTH OF CHICAGO. GOT THERE SET UP CAMP, PUT IN AND DISCOVERD THE MOST BROWNISH LOOKING WATER. THAN 5 MINUTES LATER WAS STOPPED BY THE LAW. I NEEDED A LICENSE TO ON THE WATER WAY. $30 FOR 4 DAYS .I WAS NOT TO IMPRESSED AT THIS POINT. THEN THROW IN THE LONG NO WAKE ZONES/THE OVERALL SHALLOWNESS OF THE LAKES THAT WAS ABOUT I COULD TAKE. IF NOT FOR BLARNY'S BAR, A PUB IN MIDDLE OF ONE THE LAKES SITTING ON A SUNKEN ISLAND. THE WHOLE THING WAS SITTING UP ON PIERS WITH OPEN PLANKING FOR THE FLOOR. IT COULD HANDLE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. AND THEY ALL SHOWED UP ON THRUSDAY NITES. RACE NITE APX. 30 OUTBOARDS AND 15 INJECTED BLOWN FLATTIES AND HYDROS CAME TO RACE. A FULL COURSE IS SET UP AND THEY RUN WHAT THEY BRUNG. THE CROWD/BOATS WERE GREAT. THEY PUT ON A SHOW FOR A COUPLE HOURS. UNTIL THE BADDEST BLOWN HYDRO STUFFED AT ABOUT 140 MPH. THATS WHEN THEY CALLED A NITE. AND THE NEXT I CALLED A TRIP. MERC245

About 3 years ago we went from Geeen Turtle Bay on Lake Barkley (Kentucky) all the way to Nashville Tenn by water. All total we traveled over 350 miles in 4 days. We stayed (on the boat) in downtown Nashville and also locked thru to Old Hickory Lake above Nashville. A very expensive trip in gas, but well worth it.

THAT SOUNDS ADENTURESOME. WHEN I WENT TO HAVASSU I WANTED TO TRAVEL UP THE COLORADO TO SPEND THE NITE IN HENDERSON NAVADA. GET A SLIP & HOTEL ROOM AND DO SOME GAMBLING THERE. BUT I WAS TALKED OUT OF IT BY THE GAS DOCK GUY. I REGRETED NOT DOING IT EVER SINCE. "ITS NOT THE THINGS U DO, BUT THE THINGS U DON'T DO U REGRET THE MOST " MERC245

This past summer towed my boat from Richmond to Ocrakoke, NC. Not sure about the mileage but you have to take a Ferry across to the island. About a 6-hour trip total. The lady that ownes the hotel we stayed in let me keep the boat at her dock. Awesome time. Spent a week there and ran all over Pamlico Sound. Ventured out into the ocean a couple times for some fun.. Rest of the time I keep it at my Chesapeake Bay cottage @ Smith Point. Nothing better than going to Solomons Island or Crisfield, MD for lunch and suds.

Burned over 500 gallons the week in Ocrakoke!!

Another place we enjoy traveling to, is Hot Springs Arkansas and play on Lake Hamilton. Hot Springs is sort of a miniture Lake of the Ozarks, with plenty of food and resorts on the water. (did I say SEAFOOD???) Hot Springs is about 370 miles from western Kentucky where we are from, but well worth the trip.

The best was the Gran Traverse Bay MI. Two weeks of the great weather and absolute crystal clear water. what makes the best was my girlfreind was taking a summer class at northern.(traverse city). she would go to class I would put in and enjoy the water and hang at the beach all day. Her classwas a WOMENS STUDYS course. So that meant about every other day at 2pm I was joined by my girl friend and about 1/2 dozen other ladies to enjoy afternoon of sun and boating. and in the evening if the group wasn't out enjoying the nite life of this resort town. we were sitting around our campfire. I felt like I was on the " bachelor" do you blame me for staying the whole two weeks. merc245
