To the new member looking for the Pulsare,
I just bought a new Checkmate from Rick at Bayview and I can HONESTLY say that it is worth every mile from IA to Green Bay to get something from Rick He will take care of every customer above and beyond the norm!!! Rick has gained a customer for the rest of my boating life, as long as he sells Checkmates that is.

Thanks man! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif I would be great to see more Mates here on the river, we are a rare breed!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, this is Baja country.

Unfortunately? Heck no!!

You'll get to make friends with other performance boaters, after you whip them into submission after all the races you're going to get into!! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
Baja makes a slower boat, so you'll be smoking all their small blocks and most of their unmodified big blocks. Let the games begin!!!

For some reason, a lot of the Baja people here look down there noses at us, and 9 times out of ten, they don't want to race. Most of my races last summer were against other Mates. That little Diplomat held its own and definately pulled away from its share of boats, then I was put back into realitly when the pack of Alison's would fly by me. Then I knew it was time to back off the throttle and ponder the thought of , damn, that was cool! OH the memories as I sit here and look at the thermometer and it is 5 degrees out!!!!!!

I love picking on the bigger boats, but there is nothing like the reality check you get when you have your boat aired out and running great and you get passed by a allison or tunnel boat running a 100 or better. This happened to me, what a trip that was.

I don't know about that. She really likes the allison grand sport,She gets that funny look on her face, kind of like we need one of thosse. I say " but sweatheart lets see what we can run wth the checkmate" just have to love it. Wife would love to run over 100 but it hase to be stable.

http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Geez, I can't get my wife to run over 50. I think it's because she's never driven fast, so she's afraid to ride fast. I got quite close to owning a Grand Sport. Not because it was stable though! Allison's are a handful to drive fast. They also don't have any room inside. They are also a handful to drive when slowing down. Notice the hull is extened way out to the bow instead of rising up like the Checkmate. Allison's are prone to bow-steer when slowing down unless you balance it properly, that long hull will let the nose bite and swing that puppy around. Fun for the driver, not for the passenger!!

Yep, she like to run fast, but it has to be stable. When the boat get a little out of shape she gets worried.

I feel your pain Rick, my wife gets all bent out of shape if we cross a wake above 35. I always make sure EVERYTHING is fastened down when we go out and get on it, not for fear of flying out of the boat, but getting thrown at me because I appropiately can't hear her yelling to slow down. I am still working on the concept of over the top is always smoother than thru the rough stuff!

Evan, that 300 is a beautiful boat, I saw it when I was at the factory in Nov.

regarding Gran Sports--I don't think that boat should be sold with over 150 hp, maybe a 200. Yes, their noses stick and when the tail comes around---yeehaaa! I had 5 stitches in my temple to prove it. Kind of tippy side to side too.

regarding wives and speed-before children she would tolerate (enjoy?) a blast once in awhile. After children, good night Gracie. Did a holeshot once when she was 6 mo pregnant. She had that look and said "Don't you ever do that again." I have been properly neutered. Hide the nitrous!
