View Full Version : Prop for Pulse 185
I have a 2001 Pulse 185 with a 2001 XR6 150 Mercury. I am currently running a 23 pitch stainless prop. I would like to know what props work well on this boat. What pitch 4 blade would be good? Also can anyone tell me if a Mercury High Five would work well. I'm not looking for maximun top end, just a good overall prop. My 23 pitch 3 blade work well but I would like a 4 or 5 blade just to be different.
Thanks

Hi D. I just bought a 21 pitch three blade aluminum for my 185 pulse. Gonna try it out this weekend if my prop shaft gets installed. Ill let you know. I bought the 21 for skiing purposes only. Bought it new for 85 dollars as a back up spare. J

The best prop for your boat will depend on what you use your boat for.
For top end the Laser II seems to be the prop of choice for a Pulse and a Merc.
I have a high five myself and it sucks big time. Cavitates way too much....
The pitch will be dictated by RPM's.

I have a laser 2 25p, I can't say enough about these props, great hole shot and they carry the bow very well.

I have a pulse 186 and the best hole-shot prop I have found with good top end was a trophy and with your motor a 21 inch would pull up slalom skiers with ease and still give top speed of about 60.A 23 inch would also be good but not quite the hole shot but maybe 65 mph. The trophy prop has great bow lift and that is what the pulse needs for good top end. The trophy is a 4 blade prop and is a favorite choice for bass boats. I have tried 10 props on my boat and that was the best all around prop on my rig. Also It handled the best, much better than the tempest.
