Was running on the St.marys river on the FL/GA border. But as I am packing up and moving to Nebraska I am not sure yet. Snow covered and frozen right now. I know there is water up there to run the boat in I just have to figure out where it is.

Another Place I may to have to visit... Go to Pride Of Muskoka and then come to your place for those wobbly pops! Then take the Pulse out. No wait, take the boat out first. Safety first, one of the things I learned with my operators car!

Ok... That would be a Pulsare you have right now? Where are you located exactly? How could you get there by ski doo? If we planned it right, I'd be there the same time you would come, skating. My buddy with the Venus lives up there all the time but I come back to Kanata in the winter. We'll see. You would probably see my red aluminum boat with the 50... Might have if you came last year?

I run my check out of Haliburton, ON. Lake Kashagawigamog mainly, this lake hooks up to 4 other lakes, all accessible by boat, Canning Lake, Soyers Lake, Head and Grass lake. Its awesome for the ultimate day cruise, pack a few Moosehead and away we go, sweeeeeeeet.
Looks like everyone is getting the itch for water. Still great sled weather though, hopefully for another 4-5 weeks. Can't ever get enough (HIGH) speed!

I live in Embrun. It is only about 25-30 minutes from Kars. This time of year as you know the river is frozen, I could get to Kars in a flash with the ski-doo (at 115 mph). This is why I do not care if my Pulsare goes 70 or 75...I kick the crap out of my ski-doo instead! LOL

Can not say that I noticed your boat last year. Maybe I drove by your property too fast!

Not too many weeds on our lake Z. You get the odd pocket here and there, the normal amount you find on most lakes.

When I bought my boat at Pirate Cove, we took it for a test drive, and the weeds were unbelievable on that river. I've never seen anything like it. When pulled the boat out of the river, the boat and trailer were completely covered in weeds.

I run on Maple Lake in the Minden/Haliburton, Ontario area. Have been going there for 30+ years. It's land locked and the only boat launch on the lake is a piece of crap so I haven't explored as much as I would like to. The lake is just big enough for a good top speed run, but I love it there.

Z06
02-28-2003, 05:48 PM
I hear ya Chris. Especially down by Pirate Cove there. When we go for long tube rides down there, its almost impossible to swerve back and fourth because it grosses the kids out and with a 1400 prop on the back, you don't want to be screwing around. It sucks with all the weeds, but I love the place...

Chris, I agree with you lake Z can be icky at times, but it is good most of the time. When the Rideau River is not busy (rare) it is great for top speed runs.

Persuader 183, how close is your lake to Lake Kushog? I hope I spelled it right. My great aunt has a cottage out in that area. I have not been there in a long time but remember it being beautiful. I think her cottage was near the tornado site from maybe 15 or so years ago.

Feel lucky for just a weed problem, here on the Mississippi, we have commercial barge traffic, submerged wing and lateral dams, moving sand bars, huge logs, dead bodies. It can take away some of the fun of boating when I bacame used to Lake Michigan and Lake Washington out in Seattle. We have had times when it looks like we are running a slalom course from trying to avoid debris. An almost constant 4 mile per hour current makes it a bitch for docking and rafting too. We do have some great beaches though and the water gets really warm. It was up at 85 degrees for over a month last summer. I do not think I could be confined to a small lake again. I kept a boat on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin for two years and went nuts. It is only 8 miles long and maybe a mile wide at the widest point, it got old real fast, plus they have very low speed limits that are strictly enforced. 35 on the weekend days and 45 during the weekdays and 15 after dusk. That sucks. I racked up many, many tickets over two summers. I never learned.

Yeah, we are always hearing on the news about bodies being found in the river. Good place to dump them if you are into that, with a strong current, they don't stick around long. You don't even want to drop your keys in the river, gone in a matter of seconds.

Z06
03-01-2003, 02:22 PM
Thats why I like my calm Rideau River. Not too deep but great for top speed runs!!! No bodies here either. I have heard people talking about a boat down underneath right out in front of me and a seaplane somewhere around here...

I live on Prior Lake which is a suburb of Minneapolis Minnesota. The lake has 22 miles of shore line but because it is close to a major metro area it can be very crowded on weekends, especially for speed runs- so I do most of my high speed boating during the week. It is great to have my boat on my back yard dock , lower the lift hop in and go for an evening cruise and look for other boats to run against because Prior lake is the only major lake in the Minneapolis area that has no speed limit during the week so a few fast boats make it down here for a run or two. There are also alot of fast bass boats on the lake because there is at least one tournament every week. So far the pulse is unbeaten, but there was a 28 foot Eliminator Daytona with two brand new 575 hp blown 502,s that would have waxed me if he wasn't taking it easy because he was breaking in about $70k worth of motors. I see only about 4 or 5 other checkmates a year in this area but at the Minneapolis boat show a new Checkmate dealer arrived in the area, he also is selling the new Hydro-Stream boats. I hope to be boating in about a month when the ice goes out.

The Chain is not bad the Foxwaterways had done a good job getting it cleaned up. It is nothing like it used to be. I grew up on Bluff lake across the channel from Baker Marine. I like it the drags on thurs at Blarney's is a blast. I stay off the island and anchor up by the track. Sold my Blown 509 Pickle fork for this 251 Convincor so I can still get out on the chain and get out to Lake Michigan also.
