Hi!
I saw an 82 Checkmate unsure what it is, possibly Sportfire 18' with 115hp Merc for $3500. Some work has been done to the motor and seats reupholstered. Looks to be in good condtion. Is it worth it? I was looking at NADA values and these are in the $1700 range for one. I was thinking of buying until I saw the NADA. Please give me your input.
Thanks!

Welcome to the board MB. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
It's worth whatever someone will pay for it.
I wouldn't worry about NADA too much. It's quite often a low ball price.
A boats value is largely dependant on what kind of shape it's in. If the motor is in really good shape it might not be too bad a deal. Without knowing more it's really hard to say though.

Thanks for the welcome Chris! Great board!
I haven't looked at the boat yet. My b/f was the one who saw it. He said the guy selling it bought it as a fixer upper. He put in new seats and reupholstered the bench seat. He had a mechanic check the motor and some work was done on the carburator and a couple other odds and ends. Compression check came out good. He refinished the top part of the hull.
I'm planning on looking at it this a.m. He said he was asking $4500 but will let it go for $3500. I still think that's kinda high but am not too familiar with checkmate prices.
What other info do you need?
