View Full Version : reseal rivets under rub rail

Im getting a bit of water dripping in from about 6 of the front rivets that secure the deck and hull on my 1989 spectra 201 ,What is the best way to deal with this? As i did a temporary seal along the aluminum rub rail to the deck but it must be coming in behind the rubber rub insert . boat is kept in the garage but it will drip if caught out in a heavy rain. Thanks

You might try using some flowable silicone sealer. It is the liquid version of silicone sealer. First take some compressed air and blow along seam that you will be trying to seal. It has to be dry for this stuff to work. Pour the sealer on the seam between the rub rail and the aluminum, let it set a little, so it runs in to the void that it allowing water to enter. Then, just as it starts to skin over, wipe it off. You might have to do it a few times to seal all the voids. Check it out at:
