soi picked up my motor this past weekend. well tonight i built a stand for it. i rigged up a come a long to lift it from the trailer. it worked well. i pulled the trailer out and positioned the motor to be mounted on the stand and bolted it on. all is going well............ then i started to let the motor down. http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif i may aswell have built the stand out of lincoln logs. it didnt hold. i used a bunch of 2x9's i had from an old waterbed. these things gave out like your legs would with this motor on your back. so now it is still hanging in the garage.
here is the question. do any of you have a good design to build a stand? i dont have a welder so i will have to use wood.

well being the cheap ass that i am, i went to home depot and came home with not enough materials for the job. http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/zx11pissed.gif im starting to not like this stand project.
I bought a 1500 lb engine stand from Pep Boys last fall for like $75. If you were close I would let you have it for your project.
I would be nervous about using wood.

I have my 300 bolted on a stand that I made out of wood. I could probably bolt two 300's to it. Very strong.
How doI I post Photos? Send to Chris?

I've seen guy's bolt outboards to car motor stands as well... BE CAREFUL!!! The 3-wheel ones CAN tip over. The 4-wheel ones are more stable and you can bolt the outboard transom bracket right up to the motor stand head. Why waste time & money building for about $100... plus it ROLLS around easily!!!! http://checkmate-boats.com/graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
