Factory Reconditioning? Where?

I posted a separate post (Enticer Rot) and it was mentioned by Donconvincer: “That boat might not be a bad investment to have Mike recondition at the factory.”

I’m assuming Mike works at checkmate and also assuming Checkmate does indeed recondition old Checkmates at the factory based on this statement. Does “Mike” frequent these bulletin boards? Where is the Checkmate factory located? Any ideas what a “factory reconditioning” might run (roughly)… 2K, 3K, 5K, 8K??? Or no guess can be said until the amount of work is realized.

I’m still debating on getting / restoring this boat and talked to the owner again yesterday and it’s still under the tree.

Call Mike at Checkmate, his number is 419-562-3881. Maybe he could give you high end price for everthing including floor and transom and gel and a seperate price for the interior. I think there have been other threads on interior prices running about $700.00.

If you are able to get a high end price maybe he could break it down with top gell only, floor replacement, transom replacement, ect and you could post the prices

"Mike" is Mike Combs. Son of Bill and brother of Kip who is a regular poster here on the board. And yes, the factory does do restoration work on boats. They do it on a boat by boat basis, and it's something they work with the owner on. Mate typically do restoration work during the fall and winter when the factory isn't running at full tilt building new boats. Below I've provided a link to a thread where you can see some boats that were restored at the Checkmate factory.

Will do. However, I called the boat owner and talked to him again. Learned a little more and discussed price. He agrees it's not worth much in it's current condition, yet now seems to not want to part with it for low dollars (???). I think he's now thinking of donating it to someone for the tax right-off. Could be the end for her.

Waiting to hear back from Mike / Kip. They replyed to my request and we'll discuss it this week... yet it might not be relevant if the owner wants to hold out for more cash.
