this is my senator. i own it for a year now. i did buy it to a high price if you compare it to american price's on e-bay and boats.com. The 2-hand boats are more expensive in holland (US price + 50%)
it is my first fast boat and its the only mate so far i found in holland. i know that there are some german guys with only small mates (14ft-17ft) from the period 1989-1992.

This checkmate was imported by a German dealer in 1990 specially for a client and i believe they have chosen the size so that it fits in a container for the long journey to Europe. There is a plate in it wich says it's an "custom boat" I don't know what it means comparing to other senators. (?????)

Tech. i made it 100% last winter and this winter i'm gonna do outside, the paint and bottom. (sun and use damage)
it has an merc 5.7 260 hp and it wil run 57 mph 4400 with an 19 pitch 3 blade mirage plus prop. (i still have "the need for speed"; any suggestions??)
I don't have a checkmate dealer so i did have to improvise some things and make some parts by myself or an metal construction factory.

The guys who i bought it from wanted to go wakeboarding so they installed a ski pole. The checkmate story ended for them buying a ski-nautique. They didn't care about the paint or looks. They wanted to ski only so "if it's running thats okay"
they do regret that choice now, but i'm not selling my checkmate.
(my girlfriend okay, but not my mate. hahaha)

I use the ski-pole not all the time. normally it's more comfort to do the ski line down. at calm water I connect it at the ski pole. When you have waves it pulls to much when you are entering a wave with the boat. It has a great wave with 2300 rpm for wakeboarding.

I'm really sick over here from all the sea-ray's and bayliners and those mass. production stuff. So i'm happy to have something different from the rest of the guys.

This summer we needed more wood for the campfire. the senator pulled the tree (10CM) down in one minute.(10 cm = 1/3 feet i believe) so if you don't have anything with you, just let the mate do it. Just do the line high enough in the tree and your checkmate will do the rest. the guys from the water-police didnt like it, but who cares... The tree was meant to be to end in a nice warm camp-fire....

see ya

Very cool Helmich!

You could always try contacting Rick at Bayview Marine when you need parts. He's a cool guy and should be able to hook you up with any parts you need.

Thanks for sharing! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
