Does anybody know what the operating RPM range on a 1985 Mercury 115hp motor should be?I got to run it last week for about 5 minutes and it topped out at 5000rpm and 44mph,does that look right or should the top end be closer to 5500rpm's.Thanks

One more bit of information on RPM question,I have had the prop off and have not been able to find out the pitch of this prop.I can't find any numbers anywhere so I don't know if I can go up or down or stay with what I have.

I don't know much about outboards, so I can't offer any advise as to what RPM's you should be at. But, any good prop shop would be able to put gauges on your prop and determine its' pitch and diameter for you.

THOSE MOTORS SHOULDNT REV OVER 5300 RPMS. THEY CAN'T REV TO 6,000 LIKE THE STOCK V6 CAN, YOU ARE PRETTY CLOSE TO YOUR RECOMMENDED RANGE ALREADY.
