I’ve bought a new pickup truck to tow my mate next season and I’ve come to the task of buying a roll up tonneau cover for the bed. Anybody have any opinions on who makes a good cover that will handle northern climates?

I have had two trucks that I put the Pace Edwards Roll Top on. The only complaint I have is the paint they use for the two side tracks seems to get chalky after awhile. Other than that I really have liked them and would buy another.

I put on a exstang cover. No snap's. Its not a roll up but looks and works great.

What ever you buy get one with snaps, or one that rolls up in a track. I had one with velcro on it and it would never stay on. Especially when it iced up. Last time I saw it it came loose and flew into the ditch. I didn't even slow down nevermind turn around for it.
The hard covers are the best but no place to put them if you have something to fit in the back that won't let the lid close.

I like the system on my wife's Chev Avalanche it is three piece and you can store it in the back maybe someone makes an aftermarket one like that?

Just bought Jack rabbit from Pace Edwards,Like it a lot & good quality! My dad has had 1 of these on his truck for about 4 years & no problems. It does seem like someone out there makes foldable/removable hardtop like avalanche.?

I've owned quite a few Extangs. I have one right now on my Z71 Silverado.

It works well, but in cold weather it's almost impossible to get it snapped back in place. I also had the model that didn't have the snaps, but instead had a snapless system, and I found it even worse to deal with. The one I had used a plastic spline which slid into the siderail. And it didn't really roll up properly because the spline is made of this hard plastic material.

The bottom line is they all have their good and bad points, you just have to find the one you can live with the most.

Chris, You talking about tonneau covers or Women http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/lol.gif

Take a look at Truxedo.com. I have the model with the flush toolbox. Could be a little deeper but I like how the box blends in with the cover. The cover is secured at the front and when you lock the tailgate you can't release the cover. I know a couple people with these and no complaints so far.....

The comparison is uncanny. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/biggthumpup.gif

I have a Pace Edwards roll up on my '03 Chevrolet Dually. I am very happy with it. I am in Upstate NY, and have had no problems with it in this climate.

I have a retail store and an internet company selling truck accessories and bodies. We've sold every type of cover available. I've not found one better than the Advance Cover 4 piece aluminum folding cover. Fold-A-Cover also makes a nice unit. Cold doesn't effect performance, their nearly weather tight and easily removable when called for. Check out our site at worktrucksupply.com or go to advancecover.com and do the research. Hope that helps you.

I had a Pace Edwards on my F250 for a couple of years. Nothing but problems in the winter, locks freeze, roller container fills with water then freezes. All a pain. I am in and out of my truck bed many times a day. Maybe I just wore it out.

I replaced the Pace with a Fold a Cover and love it. I think the simple design is a real advantage.

Thanks for all the input. I visited some local shops and compared the brands. And ended up buying an Extang RT roll top. Got to try it out the roll up feature when it was –5 F and it worked as advertised.

the Access Rollup cover is the best in my opinion...
