60 and trimmed right it sits very bow high but runs nice at about 5000 any more the boat turns left and starts to chine. I've owned this boat since 91 and it origanally had a 1988 48spl johnson. it did like 38-40mph but I was a kid and weighed probabaly 1/2 what I do now.
It needs a small jack plate probabaly 4-6" no more
The 90 was the best choice because it was the smallest inline engine with the highest HP. and its a bulletproof lil monster so I have no prob turning it over 6000rpm.
I still have to do some ballist with the battery/fuel tank/beer cooler locations. It's a work in progress. probabaly a neverending one!

sorry I started rambling. to answer your question. It handles it fine...now The last 2 years it's been decapped and gutted to the "core" literally. the floor was rotted right down to the balsa, and I almost gave up but repaired & replaced with better coring, replaced the stringers, transom, and floor. I also added 3 big knees from the floor to the transom, and notched the center stringer into the center knee on the transom. the transom could handle a 200hp but the weight of a v6 would sink the mate! It's only a 13' http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Hi chkmte
I have the same boat and I was looking for the same motor with jack plate to. Please send me the specs (speed, prop, hole shot...) if you have test it. I thing a Ballistic XL small hub
is a good choice with Yamaha and jackplate.
That is a nice toy.
Good luck and a happy new year

I don't have any yet, I need to put a rub rail on it before it hits water again, the last time it was ran was 04' those were the newest pics I have. I can take some trailer shots of the boat, interior, guages etc. if you want to see them.
