View Full Version : wickedrister. DIPLOMAT vs. ENTICER ARE THEY THE SAME BOAT?

CAN YOU TELL ME IF THE DIPLOMAT AND THE ENTICER ARE THE SAME BOAT. AFTER LOOKING AT LOADS OF BOATS ON LINE I WAS SURE THAT I HAD A DIPLOMAT. AFTER TALKING TO THE FACTORY I FOUND OUT IT IS REALLY AN ENTICER. I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY PICS OF OPEN BOW ENTICERS TO DATE. THE DIPLOMAT IS THE ONLY BOAT I HAVE FOUND THAT LOOKS LIKE MY BOAT. MY FEELING IS THAT THE BOAT HAD NO CHAGES MADE TO IT FROM YEAR TO YEAR IN THE MID 1980'S BUT THE NAME MAY HAVE CHANGED AT SOME POINT IN TIME http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif (THANKS-YALL)

I have an original brochure for Checkmate in 1991 and they show an Enticer bowrider on the back page.The Diplomat is an inch longer and has a 5 inch wider beam.

Is the load rating max horsepower plate still on the boat,it should say what it is.I had a new 82 Diplomat and it was rated for a 150hp I believe.The 85 predictor I have now has Predictor right on the coast guard plate.....

(ERIK AND MrWICK) THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. (MrWICK) GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR REPAIR SHOP. NO FUN CHECKING THE GPS SPEEDS IN THE PICK UP TRUCK ON THE WAY TO AND FROM THE SHOP.

Check out the 1984 Brochure in the Showroom. The Diplomat and Enticer look alot alike, but are very different side by side. The Diplomat is wider, deeper and heavier. The Enticer is rated for 125hp and the Diplomat at 140hp. If you can't find the plate usually mounted in the walk thru bow area, measure the beam across the cockpit area, rub rail to rub rail. Enticer 84", Diplomat 89". They are both awesome little boats that usually smoke anything in their class with the same motor.

The Diplomat and the Sportfire use the same exact hull molds. also the Predictor and Enticer use the same hull mold. Eluder and Enchanter same hull. Starflite and Starliner same hull. Starfire and Starlet same hull. Senator and Ambassador same hull. Spectra 170 and 171 same. Most of the Checkmates have 2 diff. decks for the same hull.
