Well,

After a very long search, we found a very nice '83 Eluder outboard. It is the orange and tan color scheme and at first glance is in out standing condition. However, the floor was a little soft so we started digging to see what we had bought. Well, it ain't pretty. Everything was soaking wet and rotten. We have removed the sub floor and the fiberboard that lines the outer shell of the hull. 2/3rds of the floor is removed and as we started up the sides, it dried out before we got the the ski storage. Now the big question, is this going to be fixable? We sank $4000 into this boat and it is just what we were looking for, but we really want to maintain its original performance. The boat is located in Central, MO. Can anyone recommend a shop to help us in this rebuild?? Thanks for any input.

First congrats on the boat. 2nd, its not as bad as it looks. Is the transom solid? If it is and ou are dealing with just the floor. I can help you. Here is the like to the repair on my mate. Like you I found a boat I just have to have. $3500 later I had a boat that I found out to have a blown motor, soaking floor, transom, and every other part that was wood or looked like wood. All you need is some very basic hand tools and a bunch of time and you can be running by spring for a 1/4 of the cost that a repair shop will charge. This "having done it your self" feeling is the greatest.
Here is the link to my love/hate relationship that is still being worked on. Stronger than factory, and I did it all my self.

We have found someone to do the fiberglass work locally. We have done all the preparation by removing all of the affected materials. The transom seems to be dry and solid. The main problem area was in the floor. This will be ongoing, so if anyone has any additional comments let me know.

Thanks,
Dan
