View Full Version : Motor Choice For A Starflite...
As I don't exactly have the money to buy a brand new Pulsare right now, I am looking at the Starflite. It looks like a pretty cool boat, but I have not driven one and am looking for some input on it. What would be the best choice for a motor, new or old, whichever would be better? Also, what props would be good on the boat. Also, what kind of speeds would I see? Now, if anyone has one for sale, give me a shout at Chris.Ellard9@sympatico.ca Some of the goodies I might add are hydraulic steering, hydraulic jack plate, transom, whatever is needed... If its a new motor, I would pretty much keep it stock... Thanks

Z, if you are going to add all that stuff, buy a new boat. Never buy a new motor by itself unless you have to. You will get a much, much better price as a package
Thats why I said I would look for something used too. Sometimes they are better then the newer ones. I do want all these other things... I might be able to get a deal because I know people... LOL http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Z, i have not seen your name on the Scat Cat yet, If you by that you know you should be banned fromthe forum for buying a BAJA
See my name on the Scat Cat yet? What does that mean? Have you seen it over at Ebay? It would mainly be for Mini Z there as he has the card too. I wonder if there is a Baja forum... I'll still get a Checkmate don't worry...

Z, I love the Starflight! I would have considered buying one before the Pulsare. I think it is rated for 250HP. Great looking boat and I you find one I bet the price would be more reasonable than a Pulsare.

The Starflite is rated for a 250. My starflite has a 225 yamaha special worked to about 275hp.I run a 26 pitch chopper and I get about 77 mph speedo. I am still trying to get stuff set right. It is an awesome boat. It is a bit heavy, but personally when you race a smaller(possibly faster) boat in choppy water, its all checkmate baby!!! http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif
I think the 250XS would go great on that, with a Lightning ET. What ya think?

I would keep looking at used. Try the Auto Trader and Boat Trader online. I found my Pulsare through these. It's a 95' and you can't
tell it isn't new. Guy wanted a Harley, and he
wanted the boat gone, so I made out big time. I usually go to the boat trader and type in Checkmate, and 18-21 footer. No reason to spend more than 15k to get a nice rig in my opinion. Good luck!

Actually the "pink" is called Flamingo by checkmate with raspberry. It is not all that bad, remember it is still a checkmate!!!!
Of course its still a Checkmate. I'd somewhat out of the Starflite Market... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/jpshakehead.gif
