OK, slight problem. Went to put top of boat back on, and it doesnt fit!! Has this ever happened with anyone? I'm thinking that between both parts sitting on there own, they probably warped or shrunk because of cold temps. I dont know, I'm missing by 1/2 inch length wise, and the sides have lots of play.

YOU MAY NEED TO USE SOME PRY BARS ALONG WITH SOMEONE STANDING ON THE DECK TO GET IT TO FLATTEN OUT. WITH SOME TINKERING THE TWO SHOULD GO BACK TOGETHER. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wait for a nice sunny day, let it get warm and you may be surprised how much it can grow.

Oh I just had flash backs.
Are you tight in the front? Is the cap centered on the hull?
I had taken all sorts of measurements on mine before I took the top deck off. When I went to reinstall the deck I had the same trouble, that and my splash well needed to be trimed.
Anyway. Here is what I did.
What for a warm day. Heat is a wonderful thing.
With the afternoon heat The deck almost fit. I went ans got my floor jack and a board. jacked the front of the boat using the tow eye. Let it sit in the sun for an hour. then installed the deck. It was still a very tight fit.
I would not use a prybar. To easy to crack the fiberglass.
Good luck to ya

What I would do is put on as much of the cover as you can. Leave it on and when the sun gets to it you should be able to get the rest of the domes on. Sometimes you just have to keep getting a dome or two at a time. It should stretch back out. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Did you maybe add a layer or so of fibergass to that deck. I worked for a company and they were building the edges of their decks too thick. We busted the corners out of about 12 of them before I got them to STOP.

No added fiberglass. From bow to stern, top is short by 1/2 inch. When top goes on, each side has an inch of play from the bottom half. I will wait for warm day. How do I stretch out bottom sides, or shrink top sides? If there is still play at end when boat fits on. Should I first pop some rivets in to join boat and follow with silicone?

IF YOU PLAN TO NEVER REMOVE THE DECK AGAIN, SCREW OR POP RIVET THROUGH THE RUBRAIL LIP INTO THE HULL TO BRING THE TWO TOGETHER, YOU CAN BOND THE DECK TO THE HULL USING PLEXUS, IF YOU WANT THE BOAT TO BE INDESTRUCTABLE BOND THE DECK AND HULL TOGETHER FROM THE INSIDE USING 6" WIDE STIPS OF WOVEN GLASS AROUND THE PERIMETER.

Sorry, I obviously thought you were talking about your vinyl cover. My bad...

I missed that you were talking about the hull & deck also.
Sounds like your hull has gotten a little out of shape from sitting, is it still on the trailer? I would say you need to push up and back on the bow, this will shorten the overall length and flare out the sides. If it is still sitting on the trailer try putting a jack or something between the winch stand and front winching eye and push back on the eye. I'd probably do this after I set the deck on starting from the back with a couple nuts and bolts to hold it tight then jack up and back till the deck front slips over the front hull then ease off on the jack and the sides will probably push out into place.
Let us now how you make out.

Right now, the bottom sits on the trailer, and the top is on it, but not fitting. As for the sides, the top hangs over the bottom. Top is big, bottom is too small. I am going to have to play around with it this weekend when I get some buddies over.
