Hey everyone.

For about a year now, I've been working on getting us moved to a bigger server running different message board software. The main holdup has been the inability to get a importer to import our current board posts etc. I think that's just about sorted at this point as it seems like most of our current stuff will import properly.

To facilitate the change, we will need to shut down this current board, import all of the data, configure the new board and the reopen. I anticipate it could take 3-4 days in total for all of the work to be done. I hope it might be quicker, but again it might not.

For now, in anticipation of the change, I've temporarily suspended any new memberships. Meaning we are not currently allowing new members to join up. This is just temporary until we make our final switch. At this point I'm working on importing all of our current members and therefore we aren't accepting new members so they don't get left behind.

The change could take place rather quickly, the timeline depends on a few last glitches being worked out with the importer.

I'll keep you posted. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I remember the early days of VBulletin. When we started, the standard in forum software was the Ultimate Bulletin Board (UBB), and we almost went with their solution. My friend and then server admin Tim suggested a new platform called VBulletin - we used it when it was in version 1 beta. Back then, the software didn't allow image attachments, and we later found out in version 2.x that there was a 4GB attachment table limit. Thankfully, that issue has been corrected.
