I would think 55-58 would be in the range. what you have got to do is get a gps and run with low fuel and as little weight as you can to get your true top speed. then you can start spending more and more money to get it faster and faster. you know the old saying

welcome to the board speedy. look around the site and I'll bet you will find a few tips to get the boat where you want it.

Hi Speedy, I have A 92 Pulse 170 (which is the bowrider) with a 120 Evinrude. With no modifications such as Jack Plates etc, I have seen 53 mph on my GPS. Chris has the similar boat (Pulse 170) with the Merc 150 and I'm pretty sure I saw him doing around the 60 mph mark on one of the speed polls.

Have a look at some of the earlier posts, there is at least 2 strings that I can recall that lists quite a few of the "top speeds" reached.

For comparison I had: 1992 Pulse 171 with a 1992 Merc 150 hp XR6 motor with a 26" Laser II prop and 6" setback jack plate.

With a good 26" Laser II, the motor jacked up until the water pressure got weak and then lowered back down 1/2", and a good running 2.5 liter 150 with the smaller gear case and 1.78:1 gears I could get to 70 with the motor turning about 5400 rpms when it was cool out. That setup was about maxed out for speed. I would have had to add horsepower and increased setback to get any more speed out of it, and that would have cost $$$
