Can anyone recommend a problem free throttle control box? And it is nearly impossible to get the current conceal mount throttle box off the hull! Any tips for a frustrated do it yourselfer?

i have an skipole mounted on my senator and the trouble is when he is diving off a wave it's pulling the ski line forward and the skieer too..
that's the reason i don't use the skipole a lot..
the checkmate's comes out of the water and a ski nautique stays in the water. this is also the big advantage of a ski nautique. i think that if you want it perfect you buy a different boat.
If you want fun with an skipole you have to accept that fact of pulling the ski-rope.
the skipole is good for tubes and skiiing in easy waves.. the skipole makes tubes jumps easy..

Tommy I am not sure what kind of control box you have on your boat but if its a merc or quicksilver control box it is easy to take off of the hull, but if it is omc its a bit more difficult, I have delt with both. Get back to me on what kind you have and maybe I can help you. As for the ski don't know.

I have sold many ski pylon/towers for non wakeboard style boats. the best i have come across is from barefoot international and is called a "quad pod". it uses 4 arms at the back and a line to the bow eye. very strong set up. takes a couple of hours to install but once in, only takes seconds to set up.

Hey Chris

Have you got more information on the product? And I was wondering if you are affiliated with Pride of Muskoka or another marina in Bracebridge?

Just checked myself. They don't list Mate, if they are no longer a dealer that's too bad.

Rick's Marine in Perth still is. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No Problem, I would imagine there would be at least a couple anyhow but if not, I won't come back empty handed. I'm sure out of the 2 or 3 leading outboard and inboard manufacturers I can find something that we all would "dream" about having.

Hey Chris:

Well guess I'm busted - that didn't take long. Once upon a lifetime ago I worked at prides - summer of 87 (the first year Dave and Carol owned the place) and for a Co-op in 1990. We did huge volume of checkys that summer. My favorite was a white 221 vision it only had a 330 in it, but what a fun boat. That was the summer that the 502 Mag was introduced and we got the first one in Canada and put in a 25' convincer (i think, that was along time ago) it was all red - really good looking boat. It was sold to a guy near my cottage who had it for a year or two and i haven't seen it since. I have always wanted a checky, but with a 3 year old and 4 month old twins - that won't be happening anytime soon.

Anyway, I ended up at Port Sandfield Marina for 6 years - where I sold 3 or 4 of those quad pods. Since spring 2002 i have been at Proline Rentals & Sales in Port Carling. Which by the way - is a merc/mercruiser dealer if you need anything.

Now getting back to the question at hand Barefoot International has a web site link for wakeboard poles:

I tried to post an image which may or may not work.

Anyway enjoy the boat show coming up in T.O. - i'll be as far away as possible - can't stand boat shows! - that's what happens when your in this biz long enough!!

Well it's nice to have you around Chris!

Feel free to pimp some stuff if you like. We can always use a little tech help.

Thanks for the ski pole website! I think I am going to pick up the pro ski pole pylon that will mount just above my outboad so we can still move around the boat a bit.

I fixed the throttle control by replacing the entire box. After talking to my uncle at christmas (who is a boat mechanic) I learned that I only needed to replace the plastic button mechanism that allows the throttle to rev in neutral. OH Well. Atleast it is fixed!
Thanks.

Good luck with the pole - you should find them a good company to deal with. I've always had good luck with them.

Chris, I have a 1981 Predictor. What height does the ski pylon need to be for this boat?
