Has anybody ever had thier hull blasted with a mild media such as baking soda or walnut shells? I started to sand the previous owners "paint job" off and it's thick and tough! It's about the thickness of a quarter with glitter thrown in the clear for good measure. After 20 years of redoing cars professionally I can safely say this is the worst mess I've seen. I'm not going to use chemical strippers like I would do on a car in this condition. I know the hull is thin. Is it a Kevlar material?

The hull is really think glass, wide strand weave. I don't know if you can blast it or not. Never heard of it being tryed.
May want to see it will work, do a small spot and see.
The thing you don't want to do is get into the factory jell coat.
Is the entire boat painted?
Good luck to ya.

Oh yeah! Somebody painted the WHOLE boat! It's very rough. I'm unhooking the motor now. Got the hydralic and electrical unhooked. What's the trick to the throttle and shift linkage?

Gental hands. Its a pain to unhook the 1st time. After that no problem. I would tell you how to unhook it, but I can't remember how I did mine, it was a year ago.

I had a Plymouth 'Cuda media blasted. Much better than sand blasting because it does not warp the metal. The guy I used also stripped Corvettes. He said it was very gentle on the fiberglas. Don't know about the gelcoat though.
