Question for the outboard owners.
How many ponies do you have strapped to the back or your mate?

200+, not sure what it is. It started life as a 200hp 2.4,has mod vp carbs, running 80-82 jets, dry stacked and relieved exh.
Run's real good. Sounds real good.
I've heard rumor that my 225 is actually about 240 at 6500-6700 rpms, but that still keeps me out of the top!

I want to re-vote, I have upgraded since my first vote, hehe. I think I have 240 hp, probelm is i have heard different things from different people and for a racing engine it seems that it can vary from situation to situation. Is there an easy way to dyno an outboard? that would be cool to have that done, it would answer a lot of my questions. -shane

I have an 89 starliner with a true 3.6 GT off-shore motor, rumored at 325hp stock. I have had Taylor Marine/ MAD EFI bore, port & polish the pistons & block & install their custom intakes & reeds. Plus install a set of custom land & sea billet heads. should be well over 400ponies

Mine says 175 mag efi, had a little help from Randy Pearson at G.P I. in Avon, Mn. Somewhere around 200? :sssh: Who cares what the boat is rated for, as long as the stickers say the right thing, right?:bigthumb:
My motor started as a 1988 2.4 200 hp, but not sure what exact hp I have now I have steel reeds, with lil to no restriction to fully open . I got the reed's and carbs that match off a 2.4 that was a competition bass boat motor ( the owner was a paid pro that went with Johnson after he lost a cylinder during a tournament ) I have modified the carbs for better air flow and have a electric fuel pump for up graded fuel flow. I will add a light weight fly wheel when I can afford it. I added a bob's nose-cone kit it has a exhaust manifold ( sounds great like a Indy car ) I added hot ngk plugs to add a better hot fire. I tried a 24 pitch chopper and it had enough torque to spin the hub, I'm trying a 26 pitch Clever this summer.., I'm going to purchase a 27-28 pitch to try next. ( building new power head this winter ) ~winks~

I forgot to add that with little to no restriction on the Reeds my 2.4 will build power till she can't pull any more gas ~smirks~

Right now, twin mariner 175's for 350hp. Hole shot should be neck breaking on my enforcer......but I won't know untill I get her completed. Plan on puting bob's velocity stacks and boysen reeds on both. Once she's done I hope it's a screamer.

She runs very nice...
doubled up this year from a merc 115 to a merc 225.
It was my wife's idea to upgrade.
She wanted "bigger".
If only everything was this easy to double.

Yeah, I need to change my entry, too. Seems I have become a comformist and joned the masses. Well, maybe not, but I am now in the majority now.
