I just picked up an '86 Ambassador. It is missing the hinge for the center windshield section and the engine hatch latches are shot. Any replacements available or ideas?

This is my first post, but I love this forum.

Welcome to the board CaptMoose. I'm glad you like the place.

You could try Mike at Checkmate and see if he knows where you can get those parts. He's da man when it comes to that stuff. http://checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/thumb.gif

And less likely to be damaged!

Thanks for the replies. After looking through some posts and some photos, I now realize that the center section of the windshield is removable. The plastic latches on one side had been removed or broken off. That's why I thought it was originally hinged.

bdusted 440, I don't think I'll put up with that piece bouncing around the boat for very long. When I come up with a hinge solution, and install it, I'll post some pics. So far, I'm thinking #1: a piano hinge could be mounted to the "overlap" section on one side of the center piece, & then to the forward edge of the fixed windshield post; or #2: cut off the overlap and mount a piano hinge between the center section and fixed upright (between the two pieces when closed). The latter seems to be the standard for other dual console & bowrider boats.

It just seemed odd to me to have a piece like that loose in the boat!

I guess no one has done this yet?? I hate having that thing bouncing around in there, late last year I hit a large wave and the latches broke, put a scratch in the boat when the thing fell down on to my foot! If anyone has any info please reply!! Thank You.
