Im soon to be a proud owner of an 84 Enticer. I think the 14 hour drive will be worth it. It has an oil-injected '85 evinrude 140 hp v4 OB. What do you guys know about this engine? I usually like mercury... but i think im getting a good deal on this.

I'll be going across I-80 to Iowa City from Virginia. Anyone around that area?

JamesP, You may want to inspect the VRO(oil injection pump). The 'Rudes from this era had some issues with the VRO. Most of the guys running those engines have disconnected the VRO and just premix the gas and oil. Other than the VRO that is a really good engine. Check out iboats.com(add the www) it is a great engine info/forum. Congrats on your new purchase.

rebuild the carbs when you get it and use only johnson or merc oil
it will foul the plugs on cheap oil
any time you feel any loss in power go though the carbs again
might keep you from putting in new pistons
i had a 80 v-4 140 the traded it for a looper v-4 140 2.0 litre on my diplomat

oh prop it so it will turn over 6000 rpm and it and you will be happier
i ran rakers but the 80 v-4 140 had a turbo but i lost it on a test ride after paying to have the lower rebuilt
