84 DIPLOMAT gel coat

I've read alot on this board about refurbishing old faded gel coat. my 84 diplomat has it bad. Ibuffed it with a 3M product made for boats with a fairly good effect. but it was very hard and time intensive plus now it has already faded (6 months) was that because I didnt use a good marine wax. Any advice would be appreciated.

It may need to be clear coated then.

I have had good luck w/ Turtle Wax Extream (paste). It's hard to find so if you can get it by two cans
