Well....
$97,000.00 Canadian Dollars / 1.5 = $64,666.00 US Dollars.
So $64,666.00 US Dollars X 1.5 = $97,000 Canadian Dollars.

Chris, If the boat were new, It is pretty close I think, althoug still high, and that is for new, no way for used! Of course that is asking price, not selling price, I hope! Sorry, Z what I paid is between Bayview and me.
Z, I will say this, the Pulsare is Much, Much less!
The ZT will never be in my price range. Makes 50K not sound too bad. I might just buy a new one. I would really like a boat over a car right now as I just got one. I think a 2002, and 2003 is good enough for most. 2004 can wait...

I priced out a 1997 Pulsare with a 225 Promax and trailer on Nadaguides, like Rick's Marine has, that they are asking $37,000 CAN. According to Nadaguides that package worth around $23,000 CAN not including any options (since I'm not sure what it has). I sent them an email with this price and asked them to justify their price, I also offered them $27,000 for this boat, which I'm sure they won't accept. I'm still waiting for a response from them, I bet I don't get one. They didn't respond to me last time I emailed them, great customer service. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I emailed another dealer in the same area yesterday, and they responded first thing in the morning, and even responded to a follow up email, that's good customer service. I don't know anything about Rick's Marine, but they aren't impressing me. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/jpshakehead.gif
It seems XSV stands by them? Maybe you just can't get a Checkmate for such $ any more. If it was for sale for anything under 25, I'd be lined up outside the door with the cheque!

The dealer should have gotten back to you, but they still might be laughing at the offer. You can add 10 grand in options before you figured out what you just did. NADA is only a bare bones starting point. Dealerships that I used to work for for classify someone as a waste of time if they gave an extrememly low offer.

I don't think I'm wasting their time, I think they are way over priced!!! There is 1997 Pulsare bow rider with a 2000 225 Promax on traderonline in Wisconsin for $18,900 US, that's around $28,000 CAN, and that's a bow rider with a 2000 motor.
They'd know soon if they have it overpriced because no one will buy it. You can get the same boat, costs less, and might be a bit farther away, but who cares. 37,000 is a bit much for a 1997 Pulsare when its now 2003.

Of course we don't know if anyone has called on that boat, but according to the add, it is pretty stripped. What kind of steroe, speakers, gauges, it is only single axle, does it have brakes, where is the gear case. Lots of relavance there that make a big differance in price. This is a boat that has been for sale for well over a year, why, why so cheap? It is priced well below market, especaill with that motor, but again, it does not have a gear case.
I also don't really like those colours for the Puslare. Red, Black, or even Yellow would be amazing.

Sorry all, I have been busy the past few days. Ya, Malibu, I would call Rick's instead of E-mailing. I have seen the 1997 Pulsare. It is all black with red metalflake and white accents. I do not think it has one scratch or scuff. The motor is the Promax 225 with the low water pickup "Torquemaster"? foot...I think that is what it is called. I beleive it has hydraulick steering as well. The trailer is a bunk style (matching colours) with aluminum wheels. The interior is white with black. All I can say is the boat is in their showroom and deserves to be there. As for the price...since it is a consignment sale that means only 8% tax and maybe the powerhead is "blown"...get my drift. 8% tax on a let's say $15000 dollar sale...you get the picture. I was told the boat has very few hours on it.
I am dissapointed to hear that they have not responded to you. I will mention that to them in a month when I go get my boat.
In my opinion the amount of use is critical to the asking price. The book value makes all kinds of assumptions and in some cases is not accurate.
Here is a question for members. How many hours do you put on your boat in a summer? http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif I know I put on about 50 hrs per season.
Malibu, compare this boat to buying a five year old car with only 10000 KMS!! Is it worth more than what the book value says? I think so!
I feel the need for speed!

XSV- Do you know if the jack plate is hydraulic? Wonder why the owner rarely used such a beautiful boat?
I'm suppose to be going down to JW's next weekend, if the weather is nice, to take his Pulsare out for a spin, never been in one. If I like his, I might have to give Rick's a call and make a serious offer on it. Since you know these guys do you think the motor might be blown...if you catch my drift... http://www.checkmate-boats.com/6/ws/,s,8626072361/Graemlins/sssh.gif
I am now serously looking for a Pulsare. I might go down and look at that Pulsare as well. I may buy it on the spot if Malibu doesn't get there first. http://www.checkmate-boats.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Z, why is your buddy looking for answers on why the motor blew. Why do you think Mercury has such a big warranty n them. When they were introduced, they were junk, just like OMC's ficht motor. That is what put OMC out of business. These guys are putting thing out into the markey too fast. If you can see the inside, they are cutting way back on R and D compared to what they use to do. I had a friend who workd for at the time OMC in the R and D dept and the stories I get...
Malibu,
Sorry, I don't mean to be argumentative, But having worked in the Marine business for about 8 years, some of those with Checkmates, I learned a different perspective on seeing things and reading into things with boats.
