Looking for a little help on a few different mate/merc topics...First - I have a 89 Starflite with a 200 Merc. This boat was always lightly used as a river boat in PA - bottom was like new as of last spring. I brought her down to MD last summer, and she sits in the inner harbor of baltimore all summer long. When I did the haul out last fall - even MaryKate On/Off could barely touch the bottom. I did get a pressure washer over the winter - any thoughts on other products / techniques that may get Baltimores finest mystery substance off of her? Once I get her clean - I've been told that bottom paint would be a big perf and resale mistake. Any one have a receommended brand of wax?

Also considering a 25" tempest, as my 23 laser spins real high and currently jumps up on plane. Ran 63 on gps with me, a little fuel, and a nice chop. Any one have experience with this wheel on a 200 merc - dealers/web-sites for new/used tempests?

Last question - where do you go for checkmate shirts, hats, jackets - I want to make my loyalty clear!

Many thanks in advance! Ken

You could try muriatic acid to cean the bottom, and SCAT is a spray on wax type coating that works kinda like bottom paint that can be removed and is clearish. Shirts you can go to
www.checkmatepowerboats.net (http://www.checkmatepowerboats.net) they have a link. Sorry cant help with prop?. Just my opinion, hope it helps, Good luck

Definitely try a Temptest on that 21' hull. The Tempest is better at lifting the longer heavier hulls.

As far as your bottom goes, any boat left in the water all summer will quickly get ugly. Is there any possibility of using a boat lift or storing the boat in a Marina's rack?

ive used a diluted muriatic acid on mine to remove that yellow/rusty look. also used TLC, a swimming pool product.then i takes alot of waxing to prevent it. i believe that the acid with remove any or all wax so be sure to rinse it thoroughly and rewax before hittin the water again!!
shirts and stuff are nice from the checkmate site, ive got the towels and drinkholders too!!!

Kurt (fnshrmaster) ran a 25 Tempest on this 21 Starflight with the 200XRi. Was showing 70mph (speedo) at 6000rpm with two adults on board. Everyone I talk to like the tempest for this hull/motor combo. Jim.
